I like 'em. They don't suck as bad as y'all say. Adam is endearing in a Make-Your-Own-Teddy-Bear kinda way. They could benefit from a guttier sound, though, and a few less songs which sound like Adam squealing into a sock puppet. This particular song isn't hateful and very nearly rocks. 7.
Liked the first album; it's been all downhill since then.
I didnt like this as much as the "August and Everything After" work. It was a tough act to follow, even if it was their act.
But if you have a record contract and gotta eat, I guess you got keep going on and work with the inspiration you have at the time.
Less whiny than their worst stuff.
This sounds like the same thing they've been doing for years. ARGH.

I have to agree. Grew up on the Bay...one of the most special places in the world...I remember meeting Adam and his crew in Philly in the early 90's when they were just getting started. they have written some really wonderful songs...and some mediocre ones as well. Cheers to MD!
"I may not go to heaven but I hope you go to hell!" Note to self: Keep that line for some future correspondence. These guys have their moments, but I don't think I could sit through more than 1 song at a time -- there's so much pain in the vocals it makes ME hurt!

Awesome album by a great band. 
I remember listening to Kerosene Hat the first time... was laying on the floor in front of the speakers, then fell asleep after i thought it was over, and FREAKED OUT when track 69 came on!!!

And you're so right! CC were SURELY a "one-CD-wonder". Their second CD is among the worst I've ever listened too. That alone discredited them TOTALLY! I'd wish they were beautiful...!!!

I quite like their live stuff, which is easily found on the 'net - they don't mind tapers and such.
I never liked this band, but the music always takes me back to the warm fuzzy memories of the 90's.

This is the gem of the album. CC have always had a remarkable ability to encapsulate a feeling in a brilliant, poetic way. Adam is particularly good at expressing many feelings at once: sadness, angst, joy... toghether...
CC is still one of the best American bands ever... and for those of you complianing that it's not as good as A&EA.... that album will never be topped, how could it be? It's not possible. Also, it was the time it emerged too...at the height of grunge... the time music appears can have just as much too do with the quality of the music as the music itself...

By the way, good song from a slightly patchy Crows album. Hard Candy is better, but their best album (for me anyway) is always going to be Recovering The Satellites.

I really like this band. The singer is good, as long as he doesn't start repeating "yaaaaa, yaaa, yaaa" too much. He does that sometimes.

This song\'s good but not too keen on this album or the latest one. They\'re not a patych on the first two which I love. August & Everything After in particular is just brilliant. One of my favourite albums probably.
I have never been very excited by thier music. Thier music has never been anything that ever grabbed my attention. I also agree that the singer's voice is annoying.
The man is an amazing song-writer, it\'s as simple as that.
The Counting Crows, in my opinion, have the most poetic lyrics of any modern band. I love this song!
I get a perverse pleasure from liking artists which generate so much hate in others (i.e. Neil Young, Smiths etc.). Sorry about this!
