If this should end tomorrow
All our best laid plans
And all our typical fears
Am I running out of lifetimes
This is not the first time
Something ends in just tears

But tomorrow I can't imagine
How am I supposed to know
What's yet to go down
Is there only one religion
The kind that whispers
When nobody comes around

The world can wait
The world can wait
I want to drink the water from your well
I want to tell you things I'll never tell
The world can wait
The world can wait
I'm wide awake
And the world can wait

I want to feel and then some
I have five senses
I need thousands more at least
Every day a page of paper

Every night a photograph
A moveable feast

So fade to black and white now
Roll the movie of my life
Inside of my head
'Cause like all true believers
I am truly skeptical
Of all that I have said

The world can wait
The world can wait
I want to drink the water from your well
I want to tell you things I'll never tell
The world can wait
The world can wait
I'm wide awake
And the world can wait

Haven't I said enough
Haven't I said far too much
Haven't I done enough
Haven't I done far too much
Far too much
The world can wait

Tori Amos called -- she wants her sound back.
"Owwwah-ah-owaaaaah-ah-ohhhhwah *breathe*.......ow-ah-ah-ow-ah".

How did anyone in the room think this sounded good at the end of a perfectly adequate song?

On the other hand, I was captured by the Wiki entry and now know an awful lot more about Cincinnati architecture.
How do you stop the hiccups?

What a voice.  Wow.
Saw these Guys open for the Cowboy Junkier es at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan, I highly recommend seeing this band and exploring their catalog.

Obviously that is true, but rock 'n' roll is (arguably) about sixty-five years old, so most of its history (for good or bad) occurred after 1980.
Outstanding!!!

Before I accidentally came across their "Discount Fireworks" best-of compilation, I hadn't even heard of the band. That was one of the most welcome revelations in recent memory. Great tunes!

Agreed, but I can definitely see the influence. Too conventional of a copy, maybe?  It's almost there, but it just doesn't hit it.

"The world can wait"??  Not with the way things are going.  I recommend following this song with R.L. Burnside's "It's Bad, You Know!"

Felt compelled to rate this, and saw that I already had it as a 2.

Downgraded to 1 in hopes I never have to do this again.

I think you would find the same thing with everyone here as most of the classics were written before 1980.{#Whisper}

Agreed.  Leave the TA style to TA.

Very early OTR. Check out their new stuff, she has really improved her singing and their songs are fantastic.
Too tori amosy for me.
Yeah, I remember this: it was the theme to the James Bond movie where he grew disgusted with the spy game and became a hipster, but the bastards pulled him back in against his will.

Hmmm, not bad but at the end it's really too much IMHO, it annoys the crap out of me...

I would have fleshed out the cello a little and added a wailing telecaster.... of course!

RP introduced me to Over The Rhine. Thank You!

Bill followed this one up with Fiona's "Criminal", maybe he's reading auburntigerrich's comments? Hhhmm?

Don't be fooled by the breathiness - she can really sing.  The others you mentioned can covey emotion well but they'll never reach the bar of being great vocalists.

Not bad but a little bit boring... I prefer the previous two ones... Sinead and Siouxsie.
Sinead, Siouxsie, now this. Three outstanding female vocalists in a row.

Nowhere else but Radio Paradise

Great song! This is quite old, I think her voice improved quite a bit. Very entertaining in person.
I can wait to hear this song again.
... as can I.

I'd have to hear a lot more that's way better than this to convince me this is worth further attention.

Whenever I hear the chorus start I keep thinking I'm going to hear "phantom of the opera".
Love this song (and OTR)

Seen them a few times. Love her, and they are very entertaining.

I think she has taken singing lessons, because her voice now is much clearer and beautiful.

Great band live, and under rated song writing.
I'm Over the Whine. I've liked previous (or newer) songs of theirs, but this one is icky.

Reminds me of "Shine" by Edenbridge (which please play). Great song!
Yay! Thank you for playing my request!

Unfortunately, this band keeps coming in & out of mine as well. I always expect to "find" them again, but alas, they return to the rubble.
If you can find their album \"Eve\" it\'s just great. It was OOP for a long time though so I dunno if it can be found anymore. The songs are very quirky and catchy. Seems like they have settled. Eve is magic though
Piercing? Hmmm... to each their own I s'pose, but I never considered Kate to be piercing... agnes wrote:
Kate BUSH? Really? Lyrically, maybe, but this woman's voice is much warmer, far less piercing than that of Kate Bush.

I must admit that this one is starting to grow on me a bit. I give her a 6'er.
Kate? Is that you Kate? Oh... guess not... Sure sounds like you though...
She's a very good performer. Love this song. Her voice can veer off a bit sometimes, but she's very sincere.
Well, it's nice that she warns us at the beginning by singing "Ugh ugh ughhhh". A solid 3 veering dangerously into 'Tori Territori.'

The coincidental is not the marvelous (J. Cocteau)
FINALLY, some emotion and some energy from this woman..this band normally makes me drool, as in I,m dead asleep....I guess I'm Over the Snooze..
Love love LOVE Over The Rhine.
Like Tori, but with more rhythm.
Tori meets the Cardigans. Meh.
Sorry, I cant find the rating called "meh". This song just plods along with the same wailing of "The world can wait" combined with what smacks of of just a teeny bit of pretentiousness. I do hope they have better tracks out there because to my (possibly uneducated) ears this is Schmaltz.
This song is like revisiting an old friend that you never realized how much you've missed. I love this band...
nice...i have one of their cds somewhere in the rubble of my music collection...this song is making me think of digging it out again.
I love Over the Rhine. Solid, moody, vesatile with lots of texture. He writes the words; she sings 'em.
Maybe it was just my connection, but there was a long pause of dead air right after she had sung the line "the world can wait"...which I thought was pretty damned coincidental and funny.
A "Decent" song that gets bumped up to "Pretty Good" on the strength of the set it's in...
I love this song so listen to the instrumentation, so textured and that voice, wow, she's so cool! Films for Radio, ha, good one!
The only likeable line from the song was, "I have 5 senses I could use a thousand more". After that wow I waited for it to end.
coyote playing "phantom of the opera" Awesome, moody, inspirational.
it has a broadway musical kind of feel.
falling...asleep...at.. keyboard..
Tori Amos wants her song back...
This is so Lilith Fair.
Over the WHINE. Ouch!

I thought this was Heather Nova when it started. I gave the song a 4 before, not sure when, I would now give it a 7. I like it :)
ugh....the world can't wait for you to finish....
This is a little too "Tori Amos" for me. But I'm going to try to give it a chance before I condem it. Edit: I just scrolled through some of the coments... I guess I'm not the first person to have that thought. Dang, unoriginal again!
this song is very singable. that's what does it for me. :)
Over the Rhine is a group I would have never discovered but for RP. Really like Ohio and Drunkard's Prayer (listened to it on way to work this morning). I also bought a live disc from their website which is nice. This is ok - doesn't really do all that much for me.
