These lyrics may be darker than they appear, especially in the context of the album.

I would suggest the "love" being sung about is not a true love, but rather an unhealthy obsession.

When this came out, I was sunk deep into a theater seat in Takaoka, Toyama-ken, after soaking most of the day away at Aqua Palace, one of the best onsen in Japan, waiting for some movie or other to begin, and this came playing over the incredible sound system. It blew the whole place away, and of course, I had to get more. I just love how it builds and ROCKS. Thanks, RP for playing the best tunes out there!

This is one of the records I use to test studio monitors.

It is a great album in lots of ways, but from a purely technical standpoint (recording/mixing/mastering), it is solidly among the greatest of all time.

Been listening today Saturday (i think) for the last 2 hours and it keeps getting better playing my favorite artists  and now Angel...What A day this is RP has put me in a fantastic mood ...My GF keeps telling me to turn it down..NO WAY hahaha....and as im typing this RP is now playing Porcupine Tree who are another one of my Favs since early 2000s...Your the best team Thanks again RP.

A great track which appears from nowhere, builds to a bristling peak then slips back into your subconscious.

This whole LP's great, in fact. One of my favourite LPs from the era which pairs up really well with Rhythm and Stealth by Leftfield (another quality 98/99 era release).

I remember how Dissolved Girl (also from this LP) was only audible on Neo's cans in The Matrix but its placement in the scene and plot was perfect. Props to the music super for that treatment.

100% agreed!  I've been rather lucky lately with getting the Massive Attack tracks to play while I'm driving to/fro work, while enjoying through my aftermarket truck stereo.  It's not the stereo I had in my college years, although I am amazed at the efficiency of the new all digital amps, I do miss the feeling of the "old" amps (I was running a Phoenix Gold Route 66 which POUNDED my ported sub box) - and I wish I knew of this group back in the day....that's really what I came to comment is how surprised I am by the rather high ratings for Massive Attack tracks....maybe most of us RPsters do have great sound systems and/or headphones.

Long Live RP (and sorry for my rambling posts....esp. since I'm "at work" so I have to switch back and forth from typing my comment and what I get paid for ;-))

I attended a 'make cannabis free' demo in Stockwell Park in Brixton UK many years ago. Walking towards the park through the backstreets of Brixton, someone had set up a sound system out of a top floor house window. This track started playing when walking past the house. I had to stop until it had finished. 

I still remember, just as it does now, the shivers it gives through my entire body - such is the effect of this quite magnificent track.

Amazing, how popular this song was... It was played in bars from Kanazawa to Kyoto when it came out, and had a big resurgence in the Tokyo club scene mid-2000s... Still brings a visceral experience, especially if played at a good volume with legal refreshments...

Not peculiar at all to me. In upstate NY we always called them toques (tukes) as well. Maybe some Canadian influence I suppose.

I'm really like this. Writing code and designing a GUI for a prototype of a medical product at work... Monday AM. Good accompaniment. I thought 'Angel' played live in Istanbul was the most amazing their live performance I have seen,  
all until I seen them in Byblos (Lebanon), this song just left me breathless right there where between the sea and 8000 years old stone walls the 'Angel' was just echoing ....Still feels surreal....
