sounds so good and strong had to get off the ladder I was upon (installing lights for an art exhibit) to check out Natalie's song, and it is quite powerful ('93 yikes this is olde : )

can't believe that i actually kinda like this... must be at least partially thanks to the fact that Natalie and 10,000 Maniacs are not played every hour on the hour here anymore. not bad in small doses.

I don't know if I agree with that interpretation completely. While it does revolve around a woman trying to deal with the gravity of being pregnant, I don't necessarily get that she's looking to end it. There are references to dealing with the baby after birth. Either way you are right - not baby shower material. :-k

Great song. Years ago, a friend of mine who knew I was 10kM fan and had seen them live, wanted to borrow the CD that had the original version of this song. I remember getting this disc through BMG and being underwhelmed. I never saw the Maniacs live ("plugged" or otherwise) but the power of their studio tracks is lost here. Go for the originals;lose this disc.
