I want to tell you how it's going to be
You're going to give your love to me
I want to love you night and day
You know my love will not fade away

You know my love will not fade away
Not fade away

My love is bigger than a cadillac
I try to show you but you drive me back
Your love for me has got to be real
You're going to know just how I feel

Our love is real, not fade away
Not fade away

Ha! Very good!
Man - struck me just right on this Sunday afternoon.
Nice groove. Sweet instrumentation.
Is this the ‘Barenaked Ladies’ ?
I like it.  The Grateful Dead ate a Buddy Holly twinkie dusted with microdot.
hey...maybe Foo Fighters or Arcade Fire will cover this.

Yeah...right.
This is just plain fun with some fine guitar work. Enjoy it as such.
Bravo!

According to the wiki entry not the one that plays the upright bass. I wouldn't have guessed that.

Great bass playing!

Definitely made me think of this book too, which I read in the '70s.

JG!
The Wiki photo of them kinda reminds me of Penn and Teller.
At least size wise.
Great remake of a great song.
Saw these guys every time they played at the Jalopeño Tree in Clear Lake, TX in the late '80s. They were always great fun. As they got kids of their own, they veered off into making music for them, and we stopped seeing them on the road. It's always great to catch one of their "grown-up" tracks. Thanks!
Saw these guys many times back in the late 80s when they made the bar circuit and came through NW Arkansas.  They loved the area so much they eventually moved there.  They would do a kids' show during the day and an adult show later that night.  Much fun!

They used to cover Harry Chapin's Taxi and to this day it's one of my favorite musical memories.

Check out "18 Wheels on a Big Rig" (children's song) - we beat the daylights out of this when our kids were young.  Go ahead... you try it in Roman numerals...
 That is a fact.

I saw them a few times at The Mucky Duck in Houston. Fun and funny. 'Dueling Morons' (or maybe 'Dueling Idiots'?) was their version of Dueling Banjos. At one point Ezra played his guitar behind his head - not too difficult for such a tall guy. Keith hoisted the double bass (!!) onto his shoulders and played it backwards also!

Fun guys, fun music. Nothing wrong with this tune, but they have better.

This is too blatantly aiming toward a Dead-like improvisational flight, it is not working for me. Most uninspired. First time hearing this and with any luck, the last. Compare with any Dead version and tell me this is even in the same league.
I loved the book, and still find it featured in my library.

Some folks just can't seem to praise one artist without damning another.  Can't love without h8.

Love it !
Second song in a row based on the classical Bo Diddley Riff. Let's see what comes next, friends.
I've been away from RP for a while - It's great to see the diversity of both music and comments still the same !
For my two penn'orth - I liked this version
Released 1990.
Last play 2008?? Thanks god that PSD exists.

Such sad cynicism! Must be that Big (sour) Apple Noo Yawk jaundiced view of life. While this version doesn't equal the master's (nothing could), it works well as the homage I believe was intended. BTW - Just between us nincompoops: how the heck could you see my potbellied tie dyed twirling all the way from t'other coast!?

say what you want about the wiseking--but as witnessed above, he's pretty freakin' funny.
Pretty good, but definitely not as good improvisation as the Dead who often stretched this tune out to 20 or 30 minutes.

Pee Wee Herman does not approve.
TEQUILA!
What a great groove. Bill the Maestro does it again.
Playing the dead after this song brought a chuckle to my lips since I would have preferred the dead version of THIS song instead.
These two guys were always at their best in some smokey Texas ice house in the late '80s. I remember seeing their ratty red van parked in front of the Jalapeno Tree bar in Clear Lake many, many nights. The audience always joined in and it was some of the best funky, beer-drinking music ever. They're off into kid's albums, etc. now. But TFIA will always have a warm place in my heart. Nice to hear 'em on RP.
Lots of good vibes from this version. Nice subtleties in this tequila-enhanced jam.
Woah, Tequilla?? Damn, that's pretty cool.
A serviceable interpretation. I like it, and the slide into "Tequila" at the bridge is unexpected. Would work really well as part of a movie soundtrack.
GREAT RIFF ON A great old song....
IMO, the worst cover I've heard of this song. Most of them are all very good (not as good as Buddy's though), but I really really don't like this one.
Lots of version of NFA that are better than this one, imo. The performance lacks distinction, so why bother?
I've only known their kid stuff, which is entertaining enough, but, hey, it's kid stuff. This is quite entertaining.

Can anyone upload the Buddy Holly original please?
It's already on the playlist. And mercifully not almost 15 minutes long.
I'm listening to "Not Fade Away" and all of a sudden in my mind I see PeeWee Herman dancing on the bar in his white shoes.
I love hearing just guitar and bass together.

We love Courage (and don't have any kids either)! We should all be so lucky to have Muriel's zen...
This seems to have been done for their own amusement. It's obviously not for the listener's.

Rush does a very interesting cover as well.

One of the greatest rock n roll songs ever written! It should be mandatory for every band to do a cover; perhaps they might learn something.
I just don't get it. Another cover of fade away. Yawn.
Surprised that nobody has mentioned the Quicksilver Messenger Service version which I think this most closely resembles. I do like this version. Pretty amazing sound for just a bass and guitar.

Originally came from the title of a book by Richard Brautigan.
Great cover art

I agree with you 100%!
most excellent groove! EDIT: how's the rest of the disk? anyone have it? similar tunes or what?
gets quite silly when it switches to Tequila - however, cool jammin' music

Or even the Stones ?

Lame !
Un-necessary cover, lacking any new "look" at this tune.

ditto. At first I thought this was simply going to be more southern-fried, blues-inspired rock (and it is, I guess), but it's turned out to be rather enjoyable.
I like the Stones version better.
wasn't digging it too much at first, but then the guitar break got me going pretty good.
Is this song the basis/inspiration of Weird Al's "Party at the Leper Colony"?

Nice, haven't hear an NFA cover in a while. Although I must admit my favorite band to cover it still is the Dead . . .
nice. nice guitarin'. solid 7.

Yep....they're my neighbors. Just great guys! They do a lot of free shows and children's workshops. Fun music to dance to...plus they incorporate magic tricks into the act. Go see em if they come your way. Thanks R&B!

These guys play around Austin pretty regularly. Good to hear that someone uploaded them.
outstanding!!!
Oh, I love the little bit of Tequila in the middle!
....any version of this song is a good version!
I used to work with these guys years ago at various arts festivals. They are quite talented and alot of fun. I am, once again, amazed at the range of music I hear at RP. Thanks!
These guys are always a lot of fun.

I'll second that request. This isn't a bad cover, kinda like one of the older Dead versions. But it would be nice to hear Buddy's original.
