Running naked down the state highway
Runnin naked in the middle of the day
Runnin naked like a tom cat's behind
Runnin naked but the cat don't seem to mind

Give me your heart
I give you mine first
Give me your time
I give you my trust

Buck naked now
Like when I was born, baby
When will we find out
Why does it take so long?

Buck naked now
Buck naked now
Buck naked now
In the eyes of the Lord

Running naked like the day when I was born
They're all naked in the land where I come from
I've a long, long way from the great high plains now
We're all naked if you turn us the inside out

Buck naked now
We ain't got no clothes
Bare assed for sure
In the eyes of God

Naked in my heart
Naked in my soul
Well, how does it feel
Anybody know?

Buck naked now
Buck naked now
Buck naked now
In the eyes of the Lord

Buck naked now
Buck naked now
Buck naked now
In the eyes of the Lord

uh, I LOVE the `me and god hate this song` picture!  ~ it's THE BEST !!!!!!!

>^..^<
I bet he just got a kick out of saying Buck Naked over and over again!  Great song!!

Steve Earle??

Yeah, we get the picture, literally. Quit using that stupid f*ckin' picture, willya? It's bad enough getting earache from this song without eyeache from your cliché. You got something to say, say it in text.

Terry Allen is a godlike figure in West TX music. He is among the great unlisted musical geniuses who will be sorely missed after his passing, just as Townes Van Zandt, Jimmy Rodgers, and Robert Johnson were before him. If you think I'm going overboard, just dig a little deeper into his back-catalog. It is astounding in its depth and breadth, and Terry is listed as an influence and inspiration from sources as diverse as Steve Earle to the Dixie Chicks to David Allen Coe.
Not bad for an ol' boy from Lubbock, as they used to say about a kid with a guitar named "Buddy".

If he's as talented as those other people you list, how come we have to listen to this steaming pile of "look at me I'm so cute" lyricism?

Why doesn't someone submit something from that great back-catalog that illustrates the tiniest bit of talent?

Or does he cater exclusively to the six year-olds that would giggle at this song?

I'd like to think you're right, but you're up against some powerful evidence to the contrary in this "song."

This is the original. Byrne did the cover.

Written by Byrne, nonetheless.

oh please please play his "art mob" tune.

Just had to comment... Last weekend the wife and I got to spend the afternoon alone at a relative's house with pool in rural Virginia. I was in a state like this song, and Mr Big old 400 pound bear decided to walk through the yard. Yes indeedie... naked in nature!

Ye gods. Please can't we have Ray Stevens and "The Streak", at least that was quite fun in its own silly way (Ah hollered over to Ethel, Ah said "Don't look Ethel!")...
That would be funny.
What an awful song, why did I give this a 2 before?
Wow, I really hate this. First time I've heard it, and we're only half way through the song.
Sucks, sucks, sucks.. I'd rather see Weird Al do this!!

No claims of DB knowledge or other, but AMG says of She's Mad (1992): "'Buck Naked,' performed here in its infant stage, would later be fleshed out in the studio for Byrne's successful 1994 release, David Byrne." Not sure if this answers the question or not... Decent tune.
Yeah, some cursory web browsing confirms this. Good stuff.

George\'s porn name on Seinfeld.
Like a Russian folk song, my wife says. I would not have thought of that.

Look, nobody's claiming this is The Greatest Song Evar, but seriously (looking at ratings), does anybody here have a sense of fun? Anyone?
I agree... I think the song is yes, marginal, but it makes me laugh!! So I'm going to rate it a bit higher... how can you not laugh at this? Buck NAKID baby!! Hahahaha...
Buck Naked, Texas Ranger!

Sucks
Did David Byrne cover this or vice versa?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't. It appeared on David Byrne's self-title 1994 album, as well as his "Between The Teeth", "This Sensuous World", and a couple of live albums.

....Buck Naked....Big ol' White Boys...this guy has issues
this defines marginal
I might be giving myself away to my high school friends, but this reminds me of a midnight run down Marlborrough to the Kensington sign, with my underwear on my head.

This guy's pronunciation makes me laugh. We used to say that when you're naked you haven't got any clothes on. When you're "nekid" you're naked and you're up to "sumfing".
What? Sumfing? Buckwheat?

No thanks. Nobody needs to see this:

When David Byrne does it, it seems like art, of a sort. When this guy does it, it seems like a really strenuous effort to be cute. I hate cute. BTW, wasn't Buck Naked George's porno name on Seinfeld?
Woooo Hoooo. Fun.
