The lesbian James Dean
I got all I ever wanted

So I don't mind saying
This is how the good life's supposed to be
The good life for you, for me

Well I don't mind saying
This is how the good life's supposed to be
The good life for you, for me

Down miles of empty road
With acolytes in tow
You could be Persephone
A pigeon through the glass
A drunken trapeze act

Well you got all you ever wanted
So I don't mind saying
This is how the good life's supposed to be
The good life for you, for me

Well I don't mind saying
This is how the good life's supposed to be
The good life for you, for me

Well I don't mind saying
This is how the good life's supposed to be

This is so not my cup of tea ... and yet it's an 8, and in danger of becoming a 9.  I don't know what Cracker have got, but it's some good stuff.

Almost as good as "Low"...
I love their song, Sidi Ifni  It's my favorite of theirs.
every good cracker needs a fine wine and this one deserves one from 1823!
Moving on from the multiple slices of Cake, now we have the Sound of Silence. Starting to worry now 06/23/23
As I've noted elsewhere (maybe down at the bottom of comments here) about Cracker, this is one of those bands I seldom or never heard before dialing in RP -- and now they're one of my favorites. Any day with some Cracker is a good day.

Haha, yes! Some sort of weird time/money/exposure  equation as well.

Beer drinking music
Not a huge fan of the song, but the lyrics are killer.
Never heard this - a very catchy powerpop tune.
You can definitely hear that late '90s alt-rock sound.

Kind of a nice segue from Woodkid

Although a Crumb, even if I wasn't I would tell everyone that they should have this album in their collection.  IT IS THAT GOOD.{#Bananajam}
Another crispy, cool and smart pop tune.
anyone else reminded of the Two Ronnies?!

In fact, I think I'll say it 7 more times to thoroughly illustrate the point. {#Roflol}
Did you know that you can take the cracker out of the valley but you cannot take the valley out of the cracker?

8 for the song - 10 for Cracker - 10+ for Cracker/live!
Cra(n)ck up!

vocal here sounds like John Reis of the Rocket From The Crypt..

I haven't listened to each subsequent album in its entirety, but it seems to me that Cracker never lived up to the promise of Kerosene Hat.

Human Wheels—strange album but actually pretty good...
They precede them of course but this sounds a lot like Cake.  Like both though...

I just saw Cracker last week, for the first time, at a free show at SXSW.  They were the opening act, then BoDeans and Cheap Trick (what?  they're still around?)

I think they got the order exactly reversed.  I was there to see Cracker.  They were good but not very dynamic, just played their music and got on with it.  As the first act they only got 30 minutes which was a crime.  The BoDeans played perfectly good pop music.  Cheap Trick was a bore and I left halfway through.  A couple good hooks and a great name isn't enough to sustain for 25+ years.

never did see Cracker live, but did see Camper Von Beethoven open for R.E.M. in 1986 and they kicked ass!
The LAST great Cracker album. Sigh.

This song comes across to me as very plastic. I really wish it would just go away...

One of my favorite Cracker songs! Thanks, love these guys. They are great live.
Agreed! I've seen both Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven (before the reunion and Cracker). Both great bands in different ways.

I hate to say it, but yeah, I feel that way a lot, too. It's not always a bad thing, but there seems to be a certain hollowness to it a lot of the time.

good call, totally agree.

Agreed! And that's a bad thing. It's a good thing that this song gets much better as it progresses, though.

Great song from an otherwise blah album from one of my favorite bands.
Awww, man, how could you insult this album on my birthday?? This one's great! Many Crackerheads consider this their best (I might also, if I could settle on just one best of Cracker, but I can't, I need three.) Go to crackersoul.com or the StrangelyCompelled or CrackerForever Yahoo groups and seek guidance. If this band truly is a favorite of yours, and you like this song, then you've got to pull the CD back out and play this song, then in this order: Seven Days, The World Is Mine, and Been Around the World for some of the best lead guitar you'll ever hear. May the force be with you, my son.

So in the latest CamperVan Beethoven tour, Cracker opens and it's all the same guys pretty much. Dave changes his shirt for the "second set" which is CVB. I think I am getting this right. I don't care as long as they keep making music.
To the naysayers in this thread: If you haven't seen David and the boys in person, you are out of line. I defy you to go to a Cracker show and not end up a convert. Happy times. Pound for pound, the coolest band in the land, IMO.
I couldn't agree more. One of the best American bands out there today. Do yourself a favor and get some Crackersoul today!
Could some fan of Cracker explain: "My face in magazines That lesbian James Dean'' Checked AMG. Don't seem likely that Lowrey is goofing on himself here. Hickman ?

That's what I came here to post and then I saw that you and Platypus and NWG already noted the similarity.

David Lowery hasn't written/performed anything that qualifies as listenable, creative or interesting since Jonathan Segel left CVB (kinda like Morrisey w/o Johnny Marr). Proof that one guy who sings a lot (and writes some) does not a band make.

GreAT set! from Warren Zevon to Cracker, it's a beautiful happysad thing. Thanks Mr. DJ.

Tech question. My ping rate for RP averages (as of 5 mins ago) 148ms. I wouldn\'t normally think that\'s that bad, but often I appear to be an entire song behind the rest of the board. Anyone else experiencing this level of delay on a regular basis?
*yawn*
Hey! Real-life, energetic, driving actual rock music for the first time this afternoon! Thanks! And I too can understand at least many of the lyrics! Sorry this had to be my first positive of the afternoon, but it was worth waiting for.

This song is so great, it was played at Buffy and company\'s senior prom.
Camper is Back!! They have played in NYC a couple times recently, and quite excellent shows.
Intro was very reminiscent of the Camper Van Beethoven days. Only thing that was missing was a bit of violin. IMO Cracker never picked up where CVB left off. :(
Ahhhhh Cracker! like a fine wine.... strained through a gas station rag! I love \'em for their \'rough edges\'... always an interesting sound; EuroTrash Girl anyone?
Nice tune good band.
To each his own - you ABBA, me Cracker
