i've always loved this song since i was in junior high.

Of all the Genesis songs that I love, and each for so many different reasons, this is the one I am probably most sentimental about (maybe just above I Know What I Like). Such a warm feel, vulnerable and simple.

I was just about to post the same thought! They really are two different bands. Their proggy PG stuff was amazing, and their poppy MOR stuff post-PG holds up better than a lot of dreck from the era.

BnR - THANK YOU for playing this track today (at all....) I knew the song and not the lyrics, so upon hearing it today whilst reading the lyrics I made the 6→9 jump on my rating.  And a reminder to myself that Phil Collins WAS badass even if my childhood memories in the 80s are of mostly pop/FM hits. 

Next for me will be to listen to all of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and see if I can enjoy PG as much as I enjoy PC.  Good luck to me!!  And Long Live RP!!

Agree that this isn't the best or the 'real' Genesis as they were teetering on the brink of pop but this album does have a few cuts that were struggling to maintain some roots.  Thank you RP for the look back!

This song sounds *so* cheesy. But the version by Red House Painters is amazing. Mark Kozelek of RHP has an amazing knack of turning 70\'s pop tunes into heartbreaking love songs.

I beg to differ. There is some pretty awesome PC era Genesis tunes and Phil's first 3 solo efforts are also pretty good. He started to get sappy after he did the song for the movie "White Nights" in 1985
