Here is the money that I owe you
So you can pay the bills
I will give you more when I get paid again
I hate those people who love to tell you
Money is the root of all that kills
They have never been poor
They have never had the joy of a welfare Christmas

Yeah
I know we will never look back
Yeah, ah

You say you wake up crying
Yes and you don't know why
You get up and you go lay down inside my baby's room
Yeah I guess I'm doing OK
I moved in with the strangest guy
Can you believe he actually thinks that I am really alive

I will buy you a garden, where your flowers can bloom
I will buy you a new car, perfect shiny and new
I will buy you that big house, way up in the west hills
I will buy you a new life
Yes I will

Yes I know all about that other guy
The handsome man with athletic thighs
I know about all the times before
With that obsessive little rich boy
They might make you think you're happy
Yeah maybe for a minute or two
They can't make you laugh
No they can't make you feel the way that I do

I will buy you a garden, where your flowers can bloom
I will buy you a new car, perfect shiny and new
I will buy you that big house, way up in the west hills
I will buy you a new life, yeah
I will buy you a new life, oh
Yeah

Oh I know we can never look back
Yeah, oh
Will you please let me stay the night
Will you please let me stay the night
No one will ever know
Yeah yeah

Oh I will buy you a garden, where your flowers can bloom
I will buy you a new car, perfect shiny and new
I will buy you that big house, way up in the west hills
I will buy you a new life, oh yeah

I will buy you a garden, where your flowers can bloom
I will buy you a new car, perfect shiny and new
I will buy you that big house, way up in the west hills
I will buy you a new life, yeah
I will buy you a new life
I will buy you a new life
I will buy you a new life
I will buy you a new life...

I just realized what I'm listening to and that this song is rather unusual for RP. But then, "unusual" is why I love RP.
It's amazing to me, how you can get completely sick of a song from hearing it a gazillion times, and then not hear it for a decade, and then hear it again, and you're still wretching sick of it. Or maybe the song just sucks. I dunno.
EVERY single song by this intolerably substandard band is a whinefest. Ugh.
yea...yea....!
yes they are cheesy pop rock and I would even go so far as to say that all their stuff pretty much sounds the same but I've got to admit, I don't mind hearing these guys every once in a while...
Ugh. I started becoming a regular here to avoid music like this, though I know RP really does hit all spectrums, I've just never liked the sound of this band. It's just sounds so bad pop rock to me.
These guy were so the S*** in the 90's I saw Art do an acoustic set in a little club in St. Louis, so relateable. As I've gotten older I'm just tired of hearing him whine about his crappy youth. Still a great song if you haven't heard it in a while.

So depressed that these marginal clowns found their way on to RP. One of their cheesiest efforts to boot.
This one just shows you that even marginal clowns can once in a while put together a good tune. What's nice about RP is they're not shy about playing that tune just because the band's rep among the RP crowd is pretty bad on account of the other garbage they've turned out. It's about the music. Thanks.
I'll take a new body to go with that new life.... my old one is a bit worn out. ok more than a bit
It's not awful. Too bad every song after this sounded, well, exactly like this.
The theme today is starting to worry me. Everyone OK?

Pleasantly surprised to hear this on RP.
Me too . . . not their best (Santa Monica, anyone?) but still nice to hear.

It shows you my age, but man this really made my seventh grade experience a little more enjoyable...you know, back when it first came out.
Though every Everclear song began to sound the same to me, I still ate this up.

I swear this guy grew up in my neighborhood - he's so familiar somehow. "A.M. Radio" is a great song, too.
I'll second the 'AM Radio' is great also.
Yes, time away from this one has done it good.

SHOCKED to hear this here, and I love it!
