Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
You know, I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heartstrings that play soft and low
You know, the night's magic seems to whisper and hush
You know, the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Can I just have one more moondance with a-you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love?

Well, I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait 'til the morning has come
You know, I know now the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come, my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then, all my dreams will come true, dear
There and then, I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
Then I know how much you want me that you can't hide

Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love?

Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
You know, I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heartstrings that play soft and low
You know, the night's magic seems to whisper and hush
You know, the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Can I just have one more moondance with a-you, a-my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, a-my love?

One more moondance with you
In the moonlight
On a magic night
La, la, la, la, la, in the moonlight
On a magic night
Can't I just have one more, moondance with you, my love?

I have no idea what a "bellend" is.   ...Safe bet, it is not a compliment!  Yep, he should shut up & stick to music!
Among other things, I love the walking bass line!

I used to play this song in my busking days. Discovered the same chords work for Whipping Post.

Sorry to hear you can't sing.   : (
Luckily for us, Van can!
not a hater but his voice just 'nips my head' now ... sorry - I hear and see the talent but wouldn't want to be stuck in a damaged elevator or lift with him when he's had a good drink and feels like singin a song to keep our spirits up ...

Obviously, she only likes morning sex.

He doesn't mean he's eager for the morning, he means it's too long a wait, he wants her tonight.
This song = *gulp*. Ever since An American Werewolf In London. And that was a long time ago. First thing I heard this morning was this song. Last thing I saw before I went to bed was a super moon. Imma just sayin'.
Sigh.  I got tired of this one about seven years ago. Up until then, I couldn't wait to hear it again. DOA and DFO. Both.
Just wondering: if he wants to make love to her tonight, why can't he wait 'til the morning has come?
amazing how ignorant our generations are when it comes to Jazz vocals. Stuff like this is considered "epic"to those who never heard, ex, Billy Eckstine
Gotta dance!

Oldie goldy classic.  Period. {#Cheers}
My friends family name is moondance.
It's hard to imagine how badly Van would have to behave in person, to negate the massively positive  impact of this song alone. So far he has not managed it, despite apparently trying quite hard. pxd

This song has always made me wonder exactly how those Mormons dance...

I mean, MAN! He wants to do it so badly, but only once.....

Their dates of birth probably have little to do with it; if anything, people born before 1970 would be more likely to be the ones who are tired of this tune.

Can NOT believe that this was released 45 years ago.........

OK, I do like this song, but right next after Anita Lipnickas song Car Door? C'mon, that was totaly unfitting!
I'm sitting at work, Van Morrison is singing about making love to a woman and how she shivers and I start to feel like it would be much nicer to be home with hubby, enjoying the things that make you feel like he sings {#Hug}{#Kiss}
Thanks Bill for confusing me {#Meditate}

Doesn't stop this being a Top Tune!

I did lights for a Van Morison concert in a little burg in upstate NY in the 70's and he was totally creepy. He pushed his way in, didn't speak or look at anyone, cussed out his band during the performance, put out a good set but engaged the audience zero%, finished the last chord and stormed out. Killed my taste for his music for 15 years. I s'pose there are people who think I'm a good performer as a scientist, but a creep as a person. Gotta take the long view. I listen to him a lot now that I'm an OG too.
Just noticed the bass is WAY up front in this mix!  Not a problem, it's the best part of the song.  {#Bananajam}
purrrrfect! {#Good-vibes}

There's a reason for that, you know.  Anywayyyyy, this is a great song, but Van doesn't really have the voice control to do it justice.  About half way through I'm sick of hearing him wander all over the place.

You need to click the cursor elsewhere on the page - outside of the ratings drop-down, before scrolling using the arrow keys, otherwise, any upward or downward commands will stay in that drop-down list.
 DaMoGan wrote:

I think I know what you mean:  there's a song rating pull-down in the uppermost frame, just left of the song artist - title. There's also one dead center on the 'second row' of frames.

I've played with the upper rater once or twice on songs where I already had a rating in the second row rater gizmo.  Didn't seem to change anything, but maybe you have to leave the page to have it register, or maybe the upper one is a "repeater" that holds your original rating and leaves it visible when you gone on a long, rambling, relatively pointless comment as I have just done.  Because you can see the upper one when you just keep on typing blah, blah, blah, blah ...

I always thought that Van's voice had a distinct Porky Pig feel to it in this song.  I still love it, but I still see Porky in my mind.
One great Road song,makes me just want to drive anywhere
fantabulous is a fun word how bout wonderfuckle!!! but still this song played everyday on the radio almost as much as sweet home alabama frickin yeesh!
I met him and his publicist in a hotel 5 years ago,  no one has made such a bad impression on me since.  He really just thinks that he is one of the last great stars in our time and should be revered as royalty.    i wouldnt pi55 on him if he were burning.

I also met proper royalty and they were charming.

Great song. I have to disagree with commenters who don't think this is RP material. Just about any of Van Morrison's music would not be out place here.
This song VERY  much applies today, as it's October, the leaves are falling, and there is still some moonlight left from the full moon we just had.

         "I'll dance to this"

Take some pretty fancy footwork Romeo

(pinched the quote from the Cowboy Junkies comment)
I still love it. Remember dancing to this on a boat on the river Shannon in Ireland on my honeymoon.

Pity about the divorce later!

Van Morrison just began recording music — with Them — in 1964.  This song is from 1970.
There must have been some sort of subtitle linked to the compilation shown above, something like The Best of Van Morrison: 1964 - 1982, or whatever.
