This song..... is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. And I walked all the way upstairs just to say so. 
The "Live from Tipitina's" records are cool too, but hard to find. I think they were released in the late 80's.

I just really don't like this song. Don't really know why. It grates on me.
I obviously know nothing about anything, 'coz I like the drums AND the cowbells. The sax I can live without, but overall, toe tappin' good times.
Blah... Much better versions out there, seems the sax player forgot the rest of his notes and just run the same beat over and over.

Tower Of Power had filled the stage and was playing like they were in an arena and the sound wasn't working. This is the real reason N.O. is sinking...the music was vibrating the ground and settling the city into the mud.

I love Horatio Sanz on SNL...he does a hilarious impersonation of Aaron Neville.

Fantastic rendition. The horns, especially the sax, give it the driving energy. Outstanding drum solo, too. The percussion overall is great.
If they are playing their drums in Congo Square, why is there so much SAX? ophone.

Saw these guys a couple of years ago at the Monterey Jazz Festival - AMAZING. Although I don't usually like tenors, Aaron's voice that day was like a sweet cornet. Truly gorgeous! I was blown away as we all funked out together.

This is good, but I like Sonny Landreth's version better. This one smokes, but Sonny's burns it to the ground!!

I add my thanks for the New Orleans sets, Bill. I can't get my mind around the magnitude of the loss, not only in New Orleans but across the whole region struck by Katrina. Music sooths where nothing else can.
loving the New Orleans set here -- helps keep some of the beauty and fun in mind amid all of the horrors.

Thanks for the New Orleans music, Bill. We're thinking of all our friends from that area who have been displaced by Katarina and hoping for a quick rebound from its devastation.This set is breaking my heart for the 1000th time in the last five days. The loss of New Orleans affects so many of us. Much of the chaos is bleeding over, some of it here in Baton Rouge. Please keep us all in your thoughts.
p.s. Fats Domino was found yesterday after being missing in the Crescent City, don't think I can call it the Big Easy anymore.

I just heard this with another artist (can't remember - too many good times in the 80s). This song will never be the same since then.

The reply from Businessgypsy was right on. And for the record, the "cajun accordian" is called a "melodian" and is distinguished from the accordian by it's tuning/scale. An accordian is chromatic, while a melodian is not. Zydeco can definitely contain a melodian, or not....

There's a decent amount of Sonny's stuff on RP, though finding that out requires spelling Mr. Landreth's name correctly.

Well thanks to Big Radio marketing, Nirvana is pop, now... but not when they actually exsisted. And you lost me with Charley Pride. I'm well aware of Charley Pride's work but that has about as much to do with the distancing of Nat King Cole from the Country genre as pointing out that Debbie Boone isn't a Hip Hop artist, but DJ Shadow is.

I just can't see how anybody can genuinely think this is Zydeco, let alone trying to catagorize the Nevviles into any ONE musical style, there's just too many influences being pulled from all at once by this band to put them in a single-title AOR-friendly genre. That's part of what makes them so exxcellent, they refuse to be catagorized.

Hearing this brought back memories of my trip to N\'Awlins this past May to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, where the Neville\'s closed out the fest as is tradition... JazzFest is awesome - everyone needs to go, if not for the music alone, because the food is incredible!
This gets a 9 because of the drum solo alone.

What Rob is talking about is New Orleans Jazz And Heritage Festival...The Neviles are regulars there....along with other places here in N'awlins....and they don't have just jazz...Dave Mathews and Dr. John..Willy Nelson among others have played "the Fest".
In fact...It ain't Jazz Fest without the Neville Brothers or Dr. John... They also do shows at night localy....Tippatina's is the old stomping ground for most N.O. bands

But this song doesn\'t do it for me. It\'s flat.
