I've ridden down Sunset
I drank expensive wine
I've been married 2 dozen times
Raised ten children on a workman's pay
And I'm glad to say I've enjoyed everyday
Of the full catastrophe of life

I've sat in courtrooms
had people call me names
I've been to London town
On a supersonic plane
I was lovin' your wife
While you were lovin mine
And I'm glad to say I've enjoyed everyday
Of the full catastrophe of life

I've opened my belt to trouble everyday
Ain't looking for a fight
But you know I won't run away
From the full catastrophe of life

I've seen the goodness
I've known the baddest around
I was tattooed when it first came out
I shook the hand that showed Moses the way
And I'm glad to say I've enjoyed everyday
Of the full catastrophe of life

A little too "choking on the splinters".

With the "Hitchhikers" theme thrown in for good measure...

Mr. Mellencamp may be from flyover country, but if you have heard him speak about life, his past, his thoughts ... he is far from a redneck. He is thoughtful, articulate, obviously intelligent, and his success came from a bounty of talent and self-awareness.  He deserves great respect as a writer, musician, performer, and as a human being.

If you ever get a chance to see Mellencamp live, no matter what you may think of his music, do it. He's incredible and you'll likely leave with a much better opinion of him as an artist.

Agreed. Saw him in Raleigh several years ago and he was fantastic. Emmy Lou opened for him and jammed with him. A great show.

Would love to see this man visit Australia and perform. Enjoy his music immensely.
Ya know...he's put out alot of good albums during the last 40 years.

And his live shows are great.

Rich artist... as in musician AND painter. FTFY.

Well Bill's found the only really good song on this album. Otherwise a huge disappointment, but this one is alright.

Could not agree less with this tiny opinion:  This May Not Be The End, Key West Intermezzo, Mr Bellows, Just Another Day, Circling Around The Moon, and more.  This is a great and waaaaayy under appreciated Mellencamp album.
Say what you will, the man is a really good painter

Sooooooy un perdedooooorrrrr
I've never like John Mellencamp from the Johnny Cougar days. Didn't recognize this as him. Have already clocked that this set on 2/21 is all about these frozen end times. Bill's subtle segues and curation leading to just saying it. <3 RP. Thank you.
only mellencamp could figure out a way to put a hip hop beat behind a slide guitar and his midwestern sound. amazing song..
