I don't care what anyone says and or how much this was played on the radio back in the day - this song kicks ass and I love it! Epitomizes the best of Rock-n-Roll.

I'm taking my 4 grandkids (age 16 to 9) to see Steve Miller tonight at Ravinia in the North Shore area of Chicago. My granddaughter's (age 9) favorite song is Abracadabra but this is a complete surprise. I have seen Steve Miller many times and it's always fantastic and a lot of fun. I just saw Steve Miller in concert in Denver last week (and last year) and The Joker, The Gangster of Love, Maurice, The Space Cowboy still has it going on as strong as ever. He brought the crowd to their feet right off the bat with Abracadabra & then launched into his lengthy catalog, and given this is his 50th anniversary as a recording artist, when all the way back to some of those early tunes (my only disappointment - he didn't perform Your Saving Grace at either shows). The band was tight, and Steve really knows how to entertain, telling great stories from throughout his career (who knew he played in Buddy Guy's band in Chicago in the mid-60's?). I've been a pretty consistent fan over the past 45 years or so, but nothing beats seeing him live.
And yeah, he did this tune towards the end of the night, still begging for that cheeseburger, to the crowds delight.
ps...he regularly tours 70 shows a year, don't miss him if you're even a casual fan. And oh yeah, his opening act both years has been Peter Frampton, who did an hour and a half of his great work.

Having seen him twice, including my first "real" concert, I have to say he and the band have a LOT of fun, and you can almost tell he's a bit embarrassed by the successful FM songs that so many RPsters have hate-ons for, and yet he plays them with as much guitar skill as the godson of Les Paul should. He's truly under-rated in my book, or maybe it's that he was over-played on the lesser-quality songs and that has hyper-effected his reputation as a super-skilled guitarist. I'm pretty close to going 9→10 on this wacky fun song....and will probably get a cheeseburger for lunch today (it's noon as I type this in the greater-Seattle area.) PEACE & LONG LIVE RP!!
I could be picky, and whine about the poor timing of the hand claps (not to mention one drum fill in there that's pretty messy), but have to admit it's all part of the chaotic fun of this piece. Glad they left it that way!
