Sick at heart and lonely, deep in dark despair.
When you want her only, tell me where is she, where?
And if she says to you, that she don't love me.
Just give her my message, tell her of my plea.
And I know,
If I could have her back again.
I would never make her sad.
I got a heart... full of soul, I got a heart... full of soul.
She's been gone such a long time, longer than I can bear.
But if she says she wants me, tell her I'll be there.
And I know,
If I could have her back again.
I would never make her sad.
I got a heart... full of soul, I got a heart... full of soul.
I got a heart.. full of soul!

I'm a big fan of CI, but this is like a cover that sucks all the life out of the original.

Why, just why would you release this horrible cover?
Always a risk taking on a ground-breaking classic.  I suspect most of his concert attendees weren't big fans of the original and prolly don't care. Generally a different crowd.  I'm a big CI fan, too, but this was a reach too far. .  I'd agree, he screwed the pooch...

always thought he sounded like a young Roy Orbison - not interested in a lot of 50s music but love the voice. Saw him perform and enjoyed the show - then listened to a couple holiday radio shows and appreciate his sense of humor. His voice is perfect for this cover.

Up +1 only the second/third time of hearing since discovering RP last year

A great cover if you heard it in a bar, but why record this? It adds nothing to the original.

Easy - Chris Isaak's performances are generally well-received around these parts and it gives Bill/Becca a chance to play back-to-back The Yardbirds tunes.

Smoking Gun by Robert Cray reminds me of this song.

This classic needs a (Chris Isaak) cover like Trump needs a wig.

On the other hand, Trump needs a wig and then some.
Like water needs wet.
Help me, I've fallen down and I can't get up.
This classic needs a (Chris Isaak) cover like Trump needs a wig.
Also suffers from not having Jeff Beck playing "sitar", his version on guitar any way.

Yes! It is a great day. This American is glad that his country is ready to re-enter the family of peaceful civilized nations. :-)

Crank up the Bland-O-Matic!

Good cover of a great song.  I do prefer the original but this is still good.

Wow, this is terrible. Please don't play it again. {#Beat}
Don't think this song is on the "Christmas" disc, unless it's a hidden track
Holy smokes! First time hearing this cover. What a classic. Love it, Bill.

Yep! He can cover anything he wants to.
Great song, great cover
He may not be the best singer but he sure sounds sexy with a capital S,,,,,, I think my heart just went pitter pat. hehehe
I usually don't like this cat, but I do like this arrangement. I think I like him doing covers better than originals. A definate 6 on this one.
Bad cover.

why not just play the yardbirds' classic version? as others have noted, it was already perfect and didn't need to be "covered" by ANYONE.
Agreed! This is bad karoake to a rock classic! Drink your Long Island Ice Tea and go home!
Man, there's something terribly sexy about Chris!

Makes me think of how Pat Boone used to sing rhythm and blues. So "Caucasian."
That is really weird especially when you consider Chris is actually a white person!
I like Chris, but he should have sub-titled this "heart full of droll. . ."

Did you see the movie "Northshore" and, a couple nights before its release, Chris telling David Letterman about his tie clip collection?
SWOOOOOON!

This is not only not better than the original, it\'s not better than much of anything.

Chris is a great songwriter...and when decides to cover a song, he does it really really well.
Chris, who seems bent on making a name for himself with covers of classic songs from 20 years ago and further, missed with this one. Too stripped down for me, his usual haunting quality just seems ... forlorn here.
