Well my telephone was ringing
And they told me it was Chairman Mao
Well my telephone was ringing
And they told me it was Chairman Mao
You can tell him anything
'Cause I just don't wanna talk to him now

I've got the apolitical blues
And that's the meanest blues of all
Apolitical blues
And that's the meanest blues of all
I don't care if it's John Wayne
I just don't wanna talk to him now

Love Little Feat (wicked tune for D-Day! : ) !!!
psd givin me Little Feat counts as a blessing for this New Year! Love, Joy and Prosperity to you All
I wish I'd heard this before Van Halen ruined it for me. I never knew it was a cover, and I couldn't understand why that song was on the album. It didn't fit with anything else, and besides, it just sucked. I don't know that I would have ever gotten into this version, but it never had a chance after VH poisoned me on the song in general.
The live version of this is even better IMHO. (waiting for columbus)
Who said sloppy drums?!?!?? Just my preference, but I think the delay in the drum pace is what MAKES this song groove. That, and Lowell wailing "Play the Blues" before the breakdown....
What an underrated classic! 'Course, I'll say that about most Feat tunes... :nodhead:

Damn I miss Lowell!!!!

Was just speaking to a friend on the phone 5 minutes ago about the same. Have seen him play with many different musicians and each time, his genius rose to the top and pulled the best out of everyone.
Time loves a hero.
Just uploaded a few tracks from Greg Copland's only album ("Revenge Will Come" - 1982) with Bill Payne from Little Feat on keyboards. Hope they get favourable reviews.

Am more of a "Let it Roll" Little Feat fan. This tune sounds like every other 12 bar blues to me.
I dunno. Never heard any other blues song that had "Chairman Mao" in the lyrics. :)
I love how they wait so long on e-v-e-r-y beat. It makes you chill out. :goodvibes:
Mmmmmh...sloppy drums :) But nevertheless a really nice track!

I believe you mean "Waiting For Colombus" Apolitical Blues does not appear on The Last Record Album

Sorry, you're wrong on that one...another quirky Lowellism, it is indeed " A Apolitical Blues"

This whole album is classic. Not a bad song on it, IMHO. By the way, I think this is titled The (not A) Apolitical Blues.
