Who's feeling sorry now?
Just when I thought I knew how
The man with the master plan
I let it all slip through my hands

Why did you turn on me?
I'm the same man that I used to be
Did you forget who I am?
I'm the man with the master plan

But every day's the same
Nothing seems to change
My life is just minutes away
And all I wanted to do was dance

How could this happen to me?
I had it all worked to a T
Went through it with a fine toothed comb
Now you want to leave me here alone

But every day's the same
Nothing seems to change
My life is just minutes away
And all I wanted to do was dance

I didn't ask for much
I maybe didn't ask for enough
I maybe should've forced your hand
But all I wanted to do was dance

Great song from an excellent band and incredible musicians.  David Hidalgo plays just about every instrument it seems.  I  seem to recall some drama about Paul Simon stealing one of their songs, rather unrepentantly.  I thin it was one of the graceland songs.  I got to chat with them after a concert once for while and have a hazy memory of discussing this!  Blew a bit of a hole in my image of Paul Simon...

The song was: All Around the World or The Myth of Fingerprints, from Graceland.

That's exactly what I said while witnessing a high speed MVA in Hawaii.   Perhaps because the vacation was immediately on hold and I was called back to my professional identity.  To the best of my knowledge, my heterosexual credentials are impeccable.

SO good!
LL is truly one of the best American bands around, and have been for 30+ years.
bravo

Took our grandkids (ages 16 to 9) to see Los Lobos last Friday night at River Edge Park in Aurora, IL 7/26/19.  They started their set with several rousing Mexican tunes, then segued into classics like "will the wolf survive", "the valley" and many other great tunes.  Amazing bunch of musicians.  It was a double bill with the Mavericks, which Los Lobos so humbly  introduced.   They were great too, but Los Lobos has an enduring place at the top in my book.  The G-kids loved their Mexican tunes the most.

I had the good fortune to see them play a show  in East L.A., some 35 years agoI was there for work, and looking for something fun to do when I spotted a announcement in the paper.  It was Cinco De Mayo weekend, and they put on a free show for their home town. 'La Bamba' was getting all sorts of radio play, and the crowd that turned out was huge, with lots of families and all ages. It was a great show. I've seen them a half dozen times since, and every time has been a blast! Great musicians, and really good people!

Just thought this comment should be at the top instead of whatever nonsense was there when I got here. Los Lobos is a hell of a bunch of good musicians, songwriters, performers. A great band that has stood the test of time.

Yeah, zydeco is nice every now & again — I hadn't ever associated Los Lobos with it, but I came to post that this track totally reminded me of 'Nawlins!

Can never go wrong with Los Lobos!
I met these guys, and they are as cool as they sound... a great band! more please!

Man I love that song.    Great gittar playn'!
I've literally never heard a LL song that I didn't like. Any comparison to the Subdudes is a great compliment to the Subdudes (and they do sound similar at times).

I want to like Los Lobos, but the lead singer's voice is a little shaky. He doesn't seem strong enough to be the lead. Often I find his style makes many of their songs sound alike.
I love Hidalgo's voice. It has a beautiful clarity and sweetness that I would love to be able to achieve with my singing.

That's ridiculo...and there are two lead singers but you obviously mean David Hidalgo. His voice might not be the most stellar but jeez, the guy is a virtuoso musician and amazing songwriter. He's got to be Pavarotti, too?

Interesting though that the Subdudes were formed after this song was recorded.

I've been fortunate enough to see both Los Lobos and Subdudes live. Both EXCELLENT live acts.
Not very original but easy on the ear.Like it.
Funny, he's led the band for about 25 years now... who are we to argue with success? thatch wrote:

All I wanted to do was dance, dance on my grave, over you. Pretty cool set.

Aaaah, now that's the kind of Los Lobos I want RP to play.

Yep, the accordion made me think John Magnie.

I dunno what you're hearing but it plays just as fine as most of LL to my ears. They cover a lot of ground between roots, rock, and cielito lindo, and do it all well.

Yeah, but there are many pretty good Los Lobos songs. This is one of them.
