Maybe it was the way he walked
Or the way he combed his hair
Could have been the fancy words
Or the sweet wine in the air

Wasn't the muddy shoes she'd hear
Slow coming up the hall
Or the faces in the pictures
That were hanging on the wall

[Chorus:]
Knock down the door to Reva's house
There's something going on
The dogs were barking late last night
There's something going wrong

Maybe she hoped he would just go away
And wake up alone in bed
Maybe there was no reason
For the things that he had said

[Chorus]

Didn't find the matches
Couldn't light them in the dark
Could only hear the sound
Of the breaking of her heart

"Don't know where to run to
I don't know where to hide
Can't hold my head up anymore
Don't listen when I cry"

[Chorus]

Good album, but seems to get a lot of airplay. Try Los Lobos cover of Richard & Linda Thompson's "Shoot Out the Lights" for a crunchy change!

Saw them in Honolulu about 5 or so years ago in a relatively small venue. I will never pass up any opportunity to see them again if given another chance. Please come back!🌈🌄🌋🏝
I was lucky enough to see these guys perform this album in its entirety and it was an awesome show. My favorite album for sure. It was such a fun concert too as a whole group of my co-workers went not knowing how much I love this record. The concert was a benefit for Hope Fest in Chicago and about halfway through the first band, i turned around to see the mayor of Chicago a few tables behind us and it was at that moment that I knew I had arrived lol. As soon as Los Lobos took stage, I managed to squeeze up to the front row, dancing through the entire show.... Good God, that was an electric.

We are about to get em back!!!!
Saw them play almost entire album several years ago at Pinkerton Academy - loved the album and the venue was a great place to hear them
Great stuff!  Do I hear a Cajun influence on this tune?

And vocals! The nerve! I am deeply offended.
The truly underrated American band.  Given the musical losses we have endured in the last two years, this band should be recognized for their range, talent, and amazing storytelling ability.

Gives,

These guys are so much better live...on a hot Summer night...outdoor venue. Good music vibes. Moon and stars. Women dancing.

Yeah baby, yeah.

Pretty cliched stuff.

Derivative. There's a market for this?

Los Lobo inhabits a rock and roll space all their own. To say they are derivative is to say that all good rock is derivative - which it is, anyway. That being said, at the very least they influenced and paved the way for so many other bands. They're an important band that way.

OK. What is this derivative of? You seem so certain that this song is inferior. Please inform us what aspects allow you to come to this obvious conclusion. My bias is that when a blanket statement like this is asserted, unless at least a bit of "evidence" to support this is offered, it is no more than an opinion. You don't like this. Fair enough. But if you call it derivative and essentially impugn the judgment of those who like it (no other way to interpret "there's a market for this'), at least justify your opinion. For example, why is this cliched?

I think he just means that he's heard another song that sounded similar, as if that's a valid criticism.  But so what?  You could probably say that about most music.

Still their best album. David Hidalgo is good as an American songwriter as there is. Great live too.
great album

Los Lobos is one of my favorite acts, thanks in large part to Bill & Rebecca and their mighty fine station. I've known of LL since back in their "La Bamba" days, but never really appreciated them until recently. This is one band I'd like to see live sometime.

All the boys on the cell block LOVE Breaking into Reva's House.!

This is just a well done song all around. Really loving it. Kudos to Los Lobos.
great song {#Cheers}
Heard the opening saxophones and thought it was Morphine!  Happy to recognize Los Lobos.

Allow me to reiterate: this is a classic album.  And is definitely their best. It really never does get old.

Brilliant lyrics

Los Lobos is playing FREE at Long's Park in Lancaster, PA - Sunday evening, July 26. See you there!

bummer...but give 'em another chance before you write their live show off.  i've seen them a handful of times and have yet to be disappointed...quite to the contrary, in fact.

I've seen them several times and I agree with slarti that they can have disappointing shows. One show I went to (400 miles R/T) it was a roadie's birthday so they let him choose the setlist. They did all their Traffic/Dead/yawn covers, none of their subtle stuff like this. I'm not sure they did anything off Kiko, in fact.

And sometimes they are the Greatest Band in the World.

Los Lobos is playing the California World Music Fest in July (Grass Valley). Check it out at wordfest.net.

I'd have to agree. Followed them for a long time, they're legendary! Or should be...
Bill can transition to Los Lobos any time he likes, in my book. Spot_69 wrote:

Great prelude to my day ahead. Going to see Los Lobos this afternoon/evening. Dave Alvin & the Guilty men are opening, followed by Kenny Wayne Shepard and Lobos headlining!
Very catchy, nice guitars.

Damnit, Bill, I'm trying to work here!
Los Angeles seemed to have the most "should have been huge" bands per capita in the late 70's-80's, e.g. X, The Blasters,Los Lobos, Black Flag, Minutemen, etc. I saw X and the Rollins band recently and while it was a fun show (not much for Rollins solo stuff, however X was great)I kept wishing it could have been X and Black Flag. Just about 5 years to young to have experienced something like that.
This is such a great LP.
I love these guys. Real rock n roll...good guitar too..
I named my new dog Kiko because of this album. The song Kiko and the Lavender moon is about a happy dog. I thought it made a great name for a pooch. Great album and he's a great dog too.

This whole ambum is killer. Pick it up if you have not heard it. Track 5 - Kiko and the Lavender Moon...his voice is haunting on that one on a nice system... Sean

These guys make me grateful to have grown up in East L.A. And live...you can\'t get any better than that. When I die and go to Heaven (or wherever, I am going to ask for a double bill concert..Los Lobos and the subdudes)

More Los Lobos please!
Really short, that\'s a good thing. Any longer and I don\'t think I would like it as much.
This song really affects me. It sounds happy, but the words tell a different story. And the bari sax riff, with the dissonant guitar notes really sets me on edge. In a good way (not like the UUN in the Elvis Costello song).
Yes!!!!!! It seems that the most over used expression on this site is something like \"the most under appreciated or under rated band of the last so many years\". Well...these guys get my vote for that award. They just never survived that La Bamba impression.
love this song. and the album is perfect.
