I remember when I was very young, and more innocent than I am now. There was an older kid (must have been at least 7) in my neighborhood who would tie a string around the necks of "H- Bees". The ones who didn't sting. I've never seen those kinds of bees since. It was the strangest thing I ever saw then. I thought it was cruel to do that to such a cool insect. I still have that same sympathy towards God's creation.
I just learned watching the making of "Lost" that male bees (Drones) do not have stingers.

Yeah, I guess most of us knew some cruel jerks like that when we were kids. Toy bees only on a leash.
My Dad used to fly Junebugs on a string. He also once made a kite out of a sheet of paper and a couple of tall weeds. He definitely wasn't cruel, but he was complicated. It's pretty hard to adjust when your parents go. At least it has been for me. But anyway he let the Junebugs go every time.
