Anyone who did college radio from 1983 through the mid-90's has that song embedded on their brain. I think the details escaping thing is just a factor of time. Can sympathize.
I'm sure that's where I first heard it. Big fan of college and community radio. We have two good stations here. Told yet another story in my edit.

This seems to cover other personality test gimmicks. For instance, I attended the Monterey Pop Festival in @ '75 and it was literally a carnival. There was a booth set-up with a computer like machine that analyzed handwriting. You simply sign your name on a card and feed it in and the computer spit the card back out with a list of personality parameters and a scale for each and where you graded out according to your signature. I still have that card in a scrapbook somewhere.
