Thanks, there is no other audio app open. We tried your suggestion in Google home but that didn't work. We usually cast to a speaker group but even when touching a single device in Google home the cast icon doesn't appear in the RP app.
We have however found another (rather cumbersome) workaround:
- with no cast icon visible perform a sync (eg Main mix) so music starts playing on the phone
- from the phone's list of open apps remove the RP app (music keeps playing)
- from the phone's pull down menu: pause RP app and remove/swipe the RP item
- restart RP app and then we have the cast icon!

I had same issue. Not to insult your intelligence but if any other audio app is open it will monopolize the audio. same here! no chromecast icon and playlist doesn't sync anymore (on Samsung S23)
