Kurt...it's silly, but these are what politicians focus on now....emotion, not intellect. Pretty soon all public buildings will be numbered... like in NY...PS 4. Wait...4 is an unlucky number...the Chinese won't like that...
Are the SF folks Republicans? Why is that here and not in the Democrat wingnut category? Have you flip-flopped? I knew it...you're a flip-flopper!
It's not silly. It keeps liberals and rednecks occupied and able to claim occasionally that they achieved something important, either changing the name or preventing it, while ignoring economic issues. You'd be surprised the friends you can buy with small change.
bump from 10 April 2009 ... backscroll if you don't believe me.
I called it back then. It is official now. We are now removing his name from public schools because Abe was a racist.
You democrats are totally out of control. Saw it back then and was called crazy ... Yeah ?

I went to P.S. #23 - it was not named after the famous psalm.

For Cottonâs part, heâs now caught in a logical trap of his own making. In his recent interview, he was obviously endorsing the view that slavery was a ânecessary evil.â However, that didnât play well. He now is anxious to distance himself from that concept, ascribing it to Americaâs founders but not himself: (...)
The problem is that if Cotton doesnât himself believe that slavery was a necessary evil, that means he must believe it â and therefore a core pillar of the founding of America â was simply evil.
The (unspeakable) third option would be that he believes it was neither...
Republican Sen. Rand Paul challenged one of the Trump
administrationâs top health advisors on the coronavirus pandemic,
questioning why the U.S. shouldnât reopen schools in the fall when
relatively few children die from Covid-19.
âShouldnât we at least
be discussing what the mortality of children is?â Paul asked White
House coronavirus task force advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci during a Senate
hearing Tuesday on reopening the economy. Paul then noted that the
mortality rate of coronavirus patients age 0 to 18 âapproaches zeroâ in
New York where 12 children have died, according to the state health
department. The notion of not sending students back to school in the
fall is âreally ridiculous,â he said.
At
one point, Fauci countered: âI think we better be careful that weâre
not cavalier, in thinking that children are completely immune to the
deleterious effects.â
...
Fauci asked for a chance to respond, and pushed back. âI never made myself out to be the end-all,â he said. âIâm a scientist, a physician, and a public health official. I give advice according to the best scientific evidence.â
Fauci then turned Paulâs own phrasing on him. âYou used the word we should be âhumbleâ about what we donât know. I think that falls under the fact that we donât know everything about this virus, and we really had better be very careful, particularly when it comes to children,â Fauci said.
âBecause the more and more we learn, weâre seeing things about what this virus can do that we didnât see from the studies in China or in Europe. For example, right now children presenting with Covid-19 who actually have a very strange inflammatory syndrome, very similar to Kawasaki syndrome,â Fauci said.
Rand Paul should ask whether kids can transmit the virus to their families when they come home from school. But when you're an unemployed clown who's given up shaving, careful thinking seems to fall by the wayside as well.
I didn't watch (why bother?) but if I were Fauci I would've eventually said
"Dr. Paul, as an ophthalmologist, you know that I'd be out of my league trying to tell you how to deal with retinal detachment. You're clearly more knowledgeable about it than I ever will be. Now...I'm an infectious disease specialist. Let me tell you about MY knowledge base and how it relates to this."
If others had Fauci's job, I don't know many people, especially among those named Scott, who wouldn't just say fuck it and quit.
A friend of mine belongs to this golf country club that had to close for 2 weeks because a guest of a member had Covid-19. That guest was Rand Paul or, as my friend said, that asshole.
