Yes. The early FM pioneers were short-lived, largely due to a shaky business model. DJs playing for like-minded folks does not necessarily pay the bills.
Been listening to RP for about a decade and half now. I am not all entirely sure how this business model actually works but the longevity is impressive. So is the apparent ability of RP to evolve, add new technologies and features.
Would love to be listening to RP in another decade and half from now. That would take us to ~2036.
The business model worked for a while, at a time when we didn't have so many thousands of choices where to easily access new music. The one thing I like about listening here is the sense that I'm listening with people (I actually miss the stronger sense of that pre-upgrades). That's something radio had going for it decades ago. And yes, hope to still be here in 2036.

I just realized that RP has broken a record in my life... like many others, I grew up on FM radio and had favorite stations... I embroidered NY's WPLJ logo on my dungaree jacket in the 70s. In the 80s it was WHFS I usually tuned to. But I don't think any particular radio station had my attention for more than 8-10 years.
It's been 15 good years with RP, and there's no end in sight. Thanks, Bill.
