(Smug, smiley-faced, gaslighting) White House Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett: "The thing I've seen is that while people have been spending more money at gas stations, they've been spending more money on everything else, which means they're still very very optimistic about the state of the economy"
(Consumer sentiment is actually at an all time low ... )
If citizens have been "spending more money on everything else", it clearly means that's because just about everything else costs more; it certainly doesn't mean that "they're still very very optimistic about the state of the economy".
I mean, it's such a silly notion it would be a punchline except for...

Indeed, the official message Ratcliffe carried to Havana was a âdo or dieâ ultimatum. He reportedly reminded the Cubans of what had happened in VenezuelaâUS Special Forces quickly killed 32 members of Cubaâs security team and injured dozens moreâwhen President Maduro did not take Trumpâs threats seriously. As the CIA director warned the Cubans, the window for diplomatic dialogue will soon close unless they act on US demands for change; and President Trump plans to âenforce his red linesâ if negotiations do not produce the results he desires.
To prove that giving Iran $1.7B of their own money was a mistake, Trump is spending $1.2B per day to prove he's Iran's bitch. Trump has literally put himself is a box with no way out.
His go to move of declaring bankruptcy in this situation won't work here...

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche had people raising their eyebrows after he defended voter ID restrictions by attempting to bring up a real-world scenario in which people have to show their IDs... going inside restaurants.
Blanche was speaking to Kristen Welker on Meet the Press when he argued that attention should shift away from criticism of Republican-appointed Supreme Court justices for weakening the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and toward what he framed as the more pressing issue of voter ID requirements.
Instead of directing anger at the Supreme Court for gutting a key protection in the Voting Rights Act aimed at preventing racial discrimination in voting and representation, Blanche suggested the following: âLike every time you walk into a restaurant or a club, you have to show your ID. How about you have to show your ID to vote? Thatâs not anything thatâs crazy. And thatâs what we should be talking about.â
He's probably talking about when he takes his dates to the clubs they're always getting carded.
