I was at one of those shows where that album was recorded; I think it was recorded over two or three nights at The Bottom Line. I was 16 and had to use a friend's ID to get in - fortunately NY licenses didn't have pictures then. During the show he went off cursing out Clive Davis, who was in the audience and owned Arista records at the time.

Ooh. I'd probably add Set You Free This TIme in there somewhere, but that's a VERY good list.
For those not familiar with Take No Prisoners, it has the absolute best versions of Sweet Jane, Walk on the Wild Side, and...
He spends a good portion of this live album heckling his fans, enjoying a gentle "fuck you" persona, and sounding at times like Jerry Lewis or Henny Youngman. And then he does this mind blowing version of Street Hassle that encapsulates everything dirty and beautiful about Lou. It makes me feel good - makes me feel like singing.

How can Heart of Saturday Night not be on this list?
It was at first but 'San Diego Serenade' pushed it off - same album though. It's hard to filter down to ten tunes. 'Jockey Full of Bourbon", 'I Don't Wanna Grow Up', and 'New Coat of Paint', were others that should be there. Oddly, years ago I used to perform "Heart of Saturday Night" at open mic shows in the village - it usually went over pretty well.

That is why this thread exist! lol You know an artist is really good when 2 or more different people can list 10 or more totally different favorites. For instance I had no idea just how much I loved Velvet Underground until listing favorites and coming up with so many and I could easily do the same for Mr. Waits. Good stuff all!
Tom Waits (again, difficult to sort, and there are many more)
10. Step Right Up 9. Time 8. I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You 7. Tom Traubert's Blues 6. Innocent When You Dream 5. San Diego Serenade 4. Bad Liver and A Broken Heart 3. Better Off Without A Wife 2. Ruby's Arms 1. Invitation To The Blues
