Maybe not surprising:

When I was designing the t-shirt for the "Seahorse Magic Sauce", I wanted to use the proper Latin name as the name of the food company - it is "hippocampus" (from Greek).  I had to dig into it more and found out that the part of the human brain was named for its resemblance to a sea horse.

When making pound cakes, DO line the pans with waxed/parchment paper. Luckily it was only one of four, and it's mine.

I learned it as duffel bag and was always a little surprised to see reference materials say it's okay or preferred to use duffle bag. It's like someone is actually trying to actively force the accepted spelling to be duffle, but not many are going along with it.

duffel bag vs. duffle bag

I learned the "duffel" spelling as well, though I do see the "le" spelling pretty often.  I didn't know it was named for a place; I assumed it was someone's last name, like "leotard", or maybe just a French term for "satchel" or something.
