In addition to the loss my friends here are experiencing, I have a group of friends who lost a dear friend yesterday (I didn't know her personally but I have many friends who were very close to her) and another friend is on her way to put her 14-year-old cat down at this moment.

THE ALZHEIMER'S PROJECT

An incredibly gripping, emotional, heart wrenching, sad, yet at times inspiring, amazing, and encouraging series.

a must see...a will cry

trailers and full episodes streamed and quite a bit more about this mysterious ailment at;

http://www.hbo.com/alzheimers/

My Dad died eventually from vascular dementia, symptoms the same as alzheimers.  I'd catch him staring at himself closely in the mirror.  When I asked him what he was doing, he said he didn't know who the person in the mirror was.  The horrors leading up to that moment I'll spare everyone.

He'd pretend to read the paper, watch TV and stuff but I knew he didn't know even who I was or his wife (my mom) of 50 years.

He died from complications to a hip injury he got while out walking the family dog.  He broke his hip, walked home in the dark, went to the ER, then a nursing home and eventually gave up eating.

In the movie "2001", HAL gets his "brain" unplugged bit by bit and loses his mind a memory board at a time.  At first he's still talking about the mission, then all he says for a while is "I'm afraid" over and over.  My Dad was afraid when it was happening to him too.

When he finally did die in the nursing home, my Mom was relieved I think.  We all were.

In the end, all we have left are memories to play back in our heads.  If those go, there's just nothing.

You can very crudely categorize foreign speakers into three groups:

those who don't have a clue and can't remember the words
those who remember the words but still haven't clued on to the fact that you actually have to think differently in a different language
those who do have a clue and are variously successful at remembering the words.

We are looking at a category two here. Past treasures from this category were phrases like

"sorry I can't come to class because I divided my bed with a virus" and
"equal gets loose" or
"I am standing on the wire"

uff.

Sure he's not using freetranslation.com? He probably thinks if he does "half" the work for you, you'll give him half off the price.
