Then, at your leisure, go buy hosting from the hosting provider of your choice.  Hook your domain into the hosting.  Easy.

IMO, It's best NOT to go with  a host that is also a registrar, unless they have a very good reputation.  "Transferring away" a domain from someone like GoDaddy can be a lot of extra steps and frustration, especially for those who are unfamiliar with how the processes work.

And don't get sucked into any of those outfits that offer a free domain name when you buy their hosting, or worse, the so-called 'website builder' sites like Weebly, Bandzoogle etc,  Stay far, far away from those.

YMMV, but doubtful.  :-)

Thanks.  Any suggestions for a registrar ?

I've looked at the link you posted for hosts and think I'm good to go there.

Ok, so I figured out a domain name and I don't want to tip my hat on the name yet.

Should I just go and get it at some place like Godaddy and find a host later or find the host and keep it in the same space ?

Been there, done that.  Gawd, that was another life so long ago.  Once upon a time, I changed a piston all by myself in a small block chevy 350 in 90 minutes, popping the oil pan and doing it from the bottom.  79 C-30 1 ton truck so the cross member was not a problem.  Did it right on the floor, no lift or jacks.  Sucker fired right up and ran fine.

Walnut shells, yes.  I remember when they cleaned up the Lorain - Carnegie Bridge (now the Bob Hope Memorial Bridge) over the Flats in Cleveburg back in the early 80's using walnut shells to blast the stone work.  Piles of them everywhere.  Took them 2 or so years.

Yes, that US 422.  Starts downtown and you can take it all the way to Atlantic City, New Joisey where it ends at the beach shore ...

Looking for a website host.  Godaddy or ?  I have no idea of who is good and who to avoid.  At present, I think I just need to get something inexpensive up to present it, post pictures and links, etc. and at best a Paypal portal option.  Or a blog and try and present services on it ?  Is that allowed ?  I know nothing on this subject.  But I do want a domain for sure.

Also a name.  Kurt's Kleen Records.  Kurt's Vinyl Services.  Not going to use kurtster or should I ?

This is totally serious.  I'm also getting involved with trying to represent the eyeglass cleaner thingy to get it marketed as a record cleaner and already have presented it to the place I got my VPI from.  The initial objection was that it contains alcohol (only 6%) but just like cables and stuff, there is an ongoing heated debate about alcohol and vinyl.  At least they let me send them some and consider it, so that's something.  By coincidence or not, the company is releasing an alcohol free version that I will pick up from the factory in a couple of weeks and test it out for them.

Thanks !

Beaker's site is great.  Based on that, I agree with you Dave.  A2 seems to be the winner, especially with their anti hack stuff.  Cost isn't the biggest issue, I just want something simple, stable and safe.  My part time gig 1099's me so I can write off against it and not raise too many eyebrows with the P & L statement at the end of the year.  Already talked to my accountant about that.

There isn't much competition out there so placement on searches shouldn't be an issue, either.

I do like Kurt's Vinyl Solutions for an opener.  Very open ended.

{#Cheers}

I just went through this with website hosts. Do NOT use Hostexcellence. They went from 5 stars to 1 star over the last year or so. Lots of outages and they don't honor their uptime guarantee.
I use GoatDaddy to register my webspace.
I ended up hosting at A2 Hosting. Lots of good reviews and no hassles so far:

I don't think HostGator deserves the bad marks they get, but I don't know how wonderful those other places are. I switched to HostGator because GoDaddy's CEO (now gone) was an ass. Godaddy is a lot better as a company now, but their user experience is still a nightmare. I have a couple of Wordpress sites I did for others that I still have to go to GoDaddy to maintain. It's not fun, lots of running in circles trying to find the correct area to make a change. FULL DISCLOSURE: if you click this Hostgator link and sign up, I get $50 bucks! Still, as an occasional user, the Hostgator website makes a lot more sense to me and doesn't suck up a lot of time with just trying to remember how/where to go to make a change (like updating credit card info for autopayments—-yes, GoDaddy even makes that confusing). So just as a non-geek who has a couple of sites up, I think HG is good.

So  anyway: If you do decide to go HostGator, it'd be wonderful if you clicked here before signing up:

Yeah, BHD's right, I forgot the 3 part.  It does work, my blood tests show me up and within normal ranges.  Without it, I'm down to around 5.  Maybe it was the Folic acid tearing up your stomach, I have no problems with straight D3 at all.  Pretty benign stuff.

Maybe I'll have to come down and get you.  You can always take the Big Dog back.  jk, maybe ...

What Kurt said. But vitamin D3.

I have to take 6k units daily because the angle of the sun up here isn't enough to get vitamin D. The side-effect has been Wolverine nails. Good luck.
