I figured that phrase was probably followed by some unsavory requests but I was being silly.  It's weird that someone would even think to use the word "may" (asking for permission) instead of the obvious "would", "could", or "will" as a directive.  That would wind me up too, but you probably don't want to bother correcting her either.  I guess if she wrote "May I have the McGuffin report, in triplicate, on my desk by 6:15 AM, tomorrow." it would be correct as a sort of passive/aggressive thing.

I think that she has learned to not use the word "can" and is using "may." I just don't have it in me to correct her

The Souris River in Manitoba where they pronounce it "souris" instead of francophone "souri".  Until it crosses the border into North Dakota where they pronounce it "mouse."

Pueblo, Colorado. Pretty much anyone will pronounce this as pwebblo, you know, the spanish word for town.  Unless you happen to be from the area around Pueblo.  Then, you pronounce it pyebblo or pyabblo.  I don't know.
