Nope, it's really an SL (so says the BIOS).

As I recall the SL had some power management features, and ran 3. 3V instead of 5V.

This particular machine only has a floppy drive, and no networking. I'm not sure what I'd do with it if it wouldn't boot. . . Actually, I'm not really sure what I can do with it now.

OK- you are kidding, correct?

Oh, believe me , it's not fun or funny at all. Kind of irritating actually.

Anyway, I is sorry for any rudeness.

Ooooh! I bought my own ergonomic keyboard (with a touchpad) and got rid of my mouse when I worked at a not-for-profit cancer support center. Failed technique at keeping the psychologists from using my desk.

Mine was a joke too, from Monty Python. "I'm not dead yet, I'm getting better."

So Slabby's post got me thinking about 'ancient'. So I went down to the 'someday a museum might want it shelf'. Gee. . . I wonder if it will boot up?

Yep:

It's a 486 SL w/ 24Mb of Ram! It's running windows 95+, I think it's about a 9 inch screen (5/4 or 4/3 I think)

It will only run about 15 seconds once the AC power is removed.

Check out the wonderfuly ergonomic edge mount keyboard, and track ball on the front edge!

And that would be +1 on the bootable machine count.

My stinkin' computer is 3 months old. That's because my other stinkin' computer, which was like 6 stinkin' years old, crapped out on me with all my stinkin' junk stuck inside it forever. That stinks. I guess I could hire one of those stinkin' computer forensic guys to rip the old stinkin' computer apart and retrieve the old junk, but it's just stinkin' junk, know what I mean? So I'm rebuilding all my stinkin' junk on the new one. I don't have a stinkin' laptop, though.

hehehehe, you said junk.  (spent the weekend with some people laughing about other uses of the word 'junk')
anyway, i think I got mine dec. of 2005.  laptop.  my one and only.

There's a reason I'm asking. You can answer, or you can admire those scissors sticking out of the side of your neck.
