A giant historic Wyoming ranch is up for sale, and in the local MAGAmaniacs facebook page, it has been the subject of many posts that assume it will be bought by Bill Gates or George Soros and terrible things will follow. One guy posted that Wyoming should buy it and keep it as is, a big cattle ranch, and then market the beef to Wyoming residents. I said Yes! Yes! Have the state own the means of production! I think you may be onto something there!" and now I'm blocked.
A Sydney man has set an ambitious target to phase out his alcohol consumption within the next 29 years, as part of an impressive plan to improve his health.
The program will see Greg Taylor, 73, continue to drink as normal for the foreseeable future, before reducing consumption in 2049 when he turns 101. He has assured friends it will not affect his drinking plans in the short or medium term.
Taylor said it was important not to rush the switch to non-alcoholic beverages. âItâs not realistic to transition to zero alcohol overnight. This requires a steady, phased approach where nothing changes for at least two decades,â he said, adding that he may need to make additional investments in beer consumption in the short term, to make sure no night out is worse off.
We get frost every winter. It will freeze at night but warm up during the day. Not all days but enough to do in tender plants in the garden. And when it is at all damp, +5 degrees feels colder than -5 (Americans can google the conversion to their quaint units)
As to how much heating we need, there's the rub. The houses are so poorly constructed and insulated that you can't really heat them properly. Admittedly our crappy dog door doesn't help, but lots of single pane glass and leaky everything. Much of the house doesn't have heat.

that's like when the authorities went overboard in combating badly insulated houses and started calling for everything to be hermetically sealed and suddenly houses developed problems with mould..

Yeah, they have introduced standards for maintaining temperatures in rental housing here. That means it would be impossible to rent my house.

Driving in to work I often see things that make me do a double take; this morning it was a small sedan tootling along, with a banana ⦠on the back window; outside; held in place by the spoiler. I can just imagine the driver looking in the rear view mirror and thinking: âOH! Thereâs my breakfast!â
