Clematis armandii absolutely stunning at the moment- cannot recommend it highly enough. Roses energetically growing (should have pruned them- oops) and peach tree still in full bloom. Whole garden needs a big clean up but it was too damn chilly today after a lovely day yesterday when I could of done it but was full of kids commitments- ballet and parties. Clematis (last year's photo-even better now). This causes me pain. We are still so far from spring. Scott's grandmother, who lived a block and a half from here had an ancient purple clematis that she planted around 1951 when their house was built. I don't know if it's still going...

If it will survive in your climate (which I would imagine it would) you should consider getting one- it is one of the earliest things to flower in our garden.
They do survive here but I am not familiar with that variety. I have a red one and a purple one at my house in town. They tend to bloom later in the spring.

I think some varieties do bloom earlier. I haven't read up on them recently but there some called Christmas Roses and some called Lenten Roses. I suspect you have the Lenten Rose variety.

my hellebore don't look so good. lots of winter damage to the leaves. this is the second year for them so I don't know what to expect.
