I've had that problem before- the crocuses budded but I never saw a flower -couldn't work out if it was birds or mice.  Fortunately no such problem this year- we have had a nice display- starting to get a little tired now.  The daffs are just about in bloom now (not at the full display stage) however I was very late in planting bulbs this year so an grateful for anything that is coming up!

Clematis armandii absolutely stunning at the moment- cannot recommend it highly enough.  Roses energetically growing (should have pruned them- oops) and peach tree still in full bloom.

Whole garden needs a big clean up but it was too damn chilly today after a lovely day yesterday when I could of done it but was full of kids commitments- ballet and parties.

Clematis (last year's photo-even better now).

This causes me pain. We are still so far from spring. Scott's grandmother, who lived a block and a half from here had an ancient purple clematis that she planted around 1951 when their house was built. I don't know if it's still going...

If it will survive in your climate (which I would imagine it would) you should consider getting one- it is one of the earliest things to flower in our garden.

They do survive here but I am not familiar with that variety.
I have a red one and a purple one at my house in town. They tend to bloom later in the spring.

I think some varieties do bloom earlier. I haven't read up on them recently but there some called Christmas Roses and some called Lenten Roses.
I suspect you have the Lenten Rose variety.

Don't worry about the hellebores. As soon as the new growth starts, I trim back the old damaged leaves. They are quickly replaced with the new leaves. Mine has several buds already. I just love them. The flowers last for at least a month.

yeah, our crocus didn't bloom yet either, I think the critters ate the bulbs. the daffs are budded. I haven't looked at the perennial beds closely. I'm hoping to get out there tomorrow to clean them up. I do have lamb's ear starting. and the wild violets have taken over the lawn and garden. there are some areas so thick with violets, it feels like walking on carpet.

my hellebore don't look so good. lots of winter damage to the leaves. this is the second year for them so I don't know what to expect.

There were no crocus here, so I planted about 50 bulbs between November and January.
Most of them are up and three have bloomed already.
The daffs are up, the bleeding heart has broke ground.
The hellebore I planted is sending up new growth and flower buds
