I was talking with my friend last night (the one who lost her young husband to cancer 2 years ago, and was left behind with 2 little boys), and she said that is when you also need lots of support - a week or two after everything settles. She said there were tons of people all at once, then about 3-4 weeks after the funeral when she really needed people, they were a little more scarce. Anyway..... Beanie, I feel really blessed to have met up with you the few times that I did - but I really wish I'd followed up on that Cleveland visit sooner, because I'd always wanted to meet KES—-after hearing all the many, wonderful stories about her, which never ceased to light up your eyes, your face...your very being. I will echo what others have said several times, now....I'm so glad that she had such a loving family and could help generate love wherever she went and with whomever she encountered...and that your life was so profoundly touched by that kind of a precious angel among you. The thoughts and prayers continue to flow northward to you all...

The last five songs Kiersten ripped from Steve's iPod:
Danny Elfman — The Breakfast Machine (from PeeWee's Big Adventure) (she used to pogo across the room to this) Lou Monte — Dominic the Donkey Arlo Guthrie — Alice's Restaurant (she memorized this) Barnes and Barnes — Fishheads (she used to sing this at the grocery store) Tiny Tim — Livin' in the Sunlight, Lovin' in the Moonlight
I'm in love with your Bug.

My heart aches for you and your family, Beanie. I'm terrible at saying the right thing, but I wonder if there is a right thing to say now...or ever...about your loss. Thank you for being a wonderful mother to a beautiful girl - inside and out.

I went to bed, but this thought came to me, so I had to get up to share it: The people and events in our lives are like bubbles: We blow a bubble and are thrilled to watch its beauty float through the air. When we are completely enamored with its magic, it pops and is gone forever. This is like life. Every year, for Buddha's birthday, the monks create these amazing, intricate sand mandalas, like this: and when the time is right, the mandala is destroyed, and the sand is returned to nature. The symbolism involves the impermanence of everything. All that we love eventually is lost to us. As well as, all of our suffering passes as well. This is the nature of life. We must enjoy what we have, when we have it, because, as the saying goes, this too shall pass.

OMG - Fishheads! That was so amazing to me in 7th grade (1981) when I first heard it on Dr. Demento. Wonder why Bill doesn't play it here? We pass so much to our kids without realizing it sometimes...

Glassbuteo, is that for my Bug? I'll print it out and take it to the funeral home. It's beautiful. Thank you.
The words Thank you seem so inadequate right now.

Because she never knew hardship or suffering. Because certain heartbreaks won’t ever heal. Because of all her joyous moments, and the addition of a beloved sister. Because of the overabundance of love in your heart. Because an entire future has simply, inexplicably vanished. Because you will survive, even though you don’t really want to. Because there was no chance to say goodbye. Mostly because she knew how much she was loved – there can be no question about that. These are the reasons we have to celebrate and mourn, to remember and yearn for what might have been. These are the reasons we have to come together as a family, to cherish what has been and what will be. To always make room for love along with anguish. To embrace the whole catastrophe of life. This is my prayer for us all. beautiful, Ca.
