We built this house almost 15 years ago, love living here. It's a tiny place, a pretty typical home in a Texas suburban bedroom community. Small yard, neighbors too close. The neighborhood families have grown and moved on and new families have moved in. It's good. We just had the foundation checked today, though... looks like the right half of the house is sinking into the Texas gumbo (red, slick mud). Repairs can wait till we can afford them next year. Still, we're lucky we have this home we love.

Buy.  Ing.  It's the closest thing I've got to a retirement plan. . . .

We put my house-in-town on the market Friday.
Today we had an offer. Too low, so far. A few more thousand we might take it.
We have offered the house at a low "as is" price. We thought if it doesn't sell in thirty days, we will start some renovation and raise the price as we go.
