reflexes. I put butter on anything. Remember getting "butter steaks" at the supermarket? Some tough ol' cut that's been pounded out and has a square of butter on it under the plastic wrap? Them're good. My mom would "frost" a 9x13 chocolate cake with butter. Not buttercream frosting, just butter. I can assure you that buttercream frosting is a fraud. Take cake, put butter on it, the end.

I did Atkins like most of America a few years ago and like most people who failed at it, I lost a lot of weight but it encourages you to eat butter which of course I said okey doke. But once I slowed down on the Atkins part, the "eat more butter" part just kept right on goin'. However I will say that thanks to that diet I now like a lot of vegetables that I used to avoid... brocolli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts etc used to be not welcome on my plate.

Man, I'm closing up on 54 years old. I feel good for the most part, but I've really got to get serious(er) about this nutrition thing. I mean really serious. Just for all kinds of reasons. I'm doing well, but not as well as I could if I really buckle down. I like just about everything, and that's the problem. I belong at 200 or maybe a little less and I'm going to get there, dangit.

I haven't put butter on anything this year. If the recipe calls for butter I use it but I don't put it (or marg.) on stuff anymore. Baby steps.

I would like to make one observation: Pancakes are fine. Put many, many, many Tbs. of real butter and pints of real maple syrup on them and they're really quite good.

With great big whole blueberries in them they are as good as anything ever cooked in the history of food. So to all the people who want plain pancakes and Aunt Jemima syrup, I have to say "are you okay? Because I think your human form has been taken over by some unfeeling machine. How can you not like this better than that?"

Anyway, we brought in $400 tonight, which is pretty good considering we don't charge to eat, we just put out little tip jars with pictures of orphans on them

You misunderstand. Long ago, there was an entity created. The entity established March 15th and April 15th as deadlines for submitting silly forms and such to their office. The poor souls who make their living from filling out the silly forms and submitting them to the mighty entity canna take a vacation between late January and the second deadline.

I'll drink a Guinness or three while you're partying heartily. There will be green beer at an Irish pub in Santa Monica, but I'll be too zombied out to enjoy it.
