Amarone Uncorkedlarger I can always buy another one when I get my real job.....and celebrate again. I see a LOT more Amarone in my future. Wine Advocate The 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a beautiful entry-level wine. This mid-weight, feminine Amarone is layered with rose petals, raspberries, truffles, sweet tobacco and herbs. The 2005 shows lovely length and polish in an understated style. I don't see this making old bones, but it should drink nicely for at least a handful of years. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. Score: 91. -Antonio Galloni, February 2011. Wine Enthusiast There is slight sweetness or chewiness and the finish is marked by thick cherry and blackberry flavors. A huge jump forward compared to recent vintages, this meaty Amarone would make a perfect partner to hearty winter foods like game meat or beef stew. Score: 90. -Monica Larner, February 01, 2011. What year was your vintage? I found a lowest price of $31.93/btl. for the 2005.
