As of January 31, 2012, most private sector employers are required to post a notice advising employees of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act:

Mom worked at GM.  Dad worked at Ford.  Neither was ever union.

But me?  I was a member of the Graphic Artists Guild, which decided to join up with the UAW to strengthen their advocacy work.  (No surprise, the union was absolutely no help to us.)

So, it was me, the ARTIST, who became a member of the Auto union.

Life is stranger than fiction.

On the other hand, for us artists, it is only through some form of solidarity that we will ever be able to be artists for a living.  It just looks to me like the unions just took it too far.
