edit: are am and fm tuning important?
AM and FM would be way down on the list, because of the mentioned lack of anything decent worth listening to here in the Coachella Valley.
I rely on my phone to pull in better FM choices. Or my default R. Paradise.
I've been on my daughter recently to figure out how to access all my music library through the cloud.
But it takes up some space. And I only have a short bed truck.
But what's more important... tools and material... or music.
I always choose my drug first... music.
I put it in my watch list.

Yes. That would be the ticket.
I have a nice little Bose speaker I've had for a few years. Sounds really great, but that model I have has had a problem.
If you push the volume... it will confuse it. It shuts off and all the lights start blinking.
So I have to keep the volume in check. Kind of annoying.
I used to run a nice little metal box my son fabbed up for me. It had some pretty efficient box speakers mounted on the sides with a nice little Sony car stereo mounted on the front. I had a 120 volt to 12 volt converter inside. An extendable car antennae was mounted on the top. And a carrying handle mounted on the top also. I would plug it in a convenient socket and listen to FM broadcast.
It got a little old, first off, because the FM stations around here sucked. And still do.And second, the memoryof the car stereo would fail every time I had to unplug it for more than 10 seconds.. Very annoying.
So, now I rely on my I Phone Bluetooth, and either my old Bose speaker. Or my Air Pods.
I'd like to go back to a nice bigger sounding setup. Everybody that hears what I listen to, are quite astounded at what I listen to.

I'm glad you guys (excuse the political incorrectness (I don't care anyways)) are posting this stuff.
I've been looking for a good system for portability and good sound for my jobs I work on.

Yeah, our big system was well under $1k; just a receiver and speakers. We stream tunes to it from out 'puters. Works out great for us.
Our home isn't very smart. We have the big-ass system in the living room and a couple of Amazon devices, one of which is portable.
