Haven't seen the film, or the play, nor read the book, but we, as in Nancy, as Warhorse is a children's book, are going to try and start with the book and try and see the play. But I think the book might be a bit old for N as she's only 8, so we'll have to put everything on hold for a couple of years, which is difficult as the full Hollywood hype is being unleashed around its opening.

But Micheal Morpurgo is a great author, and lives up in North Devon - apparently the British bits of the film were filmed around where he lives, and where the true stories the book was based on happened, which is nice for us.

I think if viewed exclusively in the context of the books, it might not be as enjoyable - it's very different from them.  If you look at it as an action flick, it's a hoot.

It took me many hours and 3 margaritas to get over the feelings of trauma I experienced.

Spielberg?  you are dead to me.

2nd that. At least with lucas you know you are going to get that same damn story repackaged again with slightly varying visuals. With Spielberg, you know he can be good, but you have to be on the lookout for the metaphorical Jar-Jar.
