not familiar with FDU...might not get it out on the Island. BGO I believe is 88.3...still plays great jazz. I think FDU (Fairleigh-Dickinson Univ.) has a relatively weak broadcast signal that may not cut through the other stations out on the Island. They broadcast out of Teaneck, NJ.

I'm not sure whether it's corporate or indie, but 101.9 (The KINK) in Portland is damn-near like RP......it's my backup when I don't feel like playing a CD or iPod in the car.

This is the best radio station imaginable for hearing the newest Indie Alternative College releases. Basically other than specialty shows usually played at night, they play nothing but the hand selected best 100 new releases of College radio for about 1 week or 2 and then FIFO rotate newer releases constantly. The rotation is nothing but all of the new releases in Indie, College, Hip-Hop, Alternative type of music: WRAS Atlanta 88.5. They do not have an internet stream yet, but that is ok, I got my WUSC for that.

Jeez, I can remember so much great radio *ahem* back in the day...
Cut my teeth on CKLW out of Windsor/Detroit. I never realized how great top 40 could be until it was gone.
Then, WMMR out of Philadelphia in the early days of east-coast progressive with Dave Herman's "Marconi Experiment' plus Michael Cuscuna and Michael Tearson (on XM now). And not to forget tuning into WOR out of New York to listen to Jean Shepherd (excelsior, fathead!).
Then, WHFS in the Washington DC area before they tanked...
Now I just cry myself to sleep.

Tons of them, either pop or rock, etc. The guy/girl morning banter. Horrendous. The only time I turn on local radio is in the morning at either 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. to hear about school bus cancellations (I'm an educator). CBC Radio 1 and CBC Radio 2 have tried to attract a younger audience (though I'm in my 50s, I'm not technically their demographic). Still CBC R2, a bit too mediocre, playing ANY artist with a pulse who's Canadian and seemingly "electic". I tried to give it a listen. Can't last beyond 2-3 tracks. Hey, I've pulled up WXRV as recommended below in a recent post; might be an alternative when Bill throws on Dengue Fever! And the guy/guy banter.
