If the sky were to fall
I’d be the first to call
Some of us are brave
Who’s gonna feel my pain
Who’s gonna say my name
Ain't no choice but to be brave
Peace and love to the ones who give praise
Take a bow as the sun hits the face
See me now, golden hour
And to those who fear leads them to hate
What a pity to be locked in a place
You see me now
I’ll show you how
I’ll show you how
I’ll show you how
I’ll show you how
I’ll show you how
Peace and love to the ones who give praise
Take a bow as the light hits the face
See me now, I‘m loud and proud
And to those who fear leads them to hate
What a pity to be locked in that place, I know
You see me though
Cause the breeze don’t blow cause you want it
And the sun gon’ shine regardless
I'm here to stay
I'm here to stay
All we want is to be ourselves
And shine our light with no problems
We don't want problems
I do believe that the power in me
Frightens you, that's your problem
That's your problem
I say the darker the berry, the sweeter the fruit
The kinkier the hair the deeper the roots
Bow down when the queendom comes
Take note when we speak our tongues
Darker the berry the sweeter the fruit
Give her her crown when she walks in the room
We are the first ones
We are light of the sun
All we want is to be ourselves
And shine our light with no problems
We don't want problems
I do believe that the power in me
Frightens you, that's your problem
That's your problem

Next female artist to sing a Bond theme track🤔?
this reminds me of another song, but I can't put my finger on it.
The pride of Rochester, NY!!!

Clearly taken from Tupac's lyrics on Keep Ya Head Up: "Some say the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice" which Kendrick Lamar then later covered in his song literally titled "The Blacker the Berry" off his To Pimp A Butterfly album. Originally, Tupac most likely got his inspiration for this line from the 1929 novel The Blacker the Berry by American author Wallace Thurman, associated with the Harlem Renaissance.

bumping to an 8. great voice
"The darker the berry the sweeter the fruit."
what a voice ....
I don't agree the two comments below mine (if you sort for newest) because this is a great song. BUT it's the second time I've heard it in less than a day, and probably the 4th time this week. Are y'all running out of songs?
Diane Birch with a bit more soul? Nice
Shite and boring. Sorry, like loads of RP but this is benign and no doubt pc
wank
I, for one, am selfishly very glad that Danielle Ponder chose music over her law career.
She was probably a great public defender, but she is a fantastic musical talent, and . . . can possibly make a more positive influence in the world as a musician, because she can reach a much greater audience.
(Yeah, I know that many listeners probably think I am dreaming in technicolor, but I do believe that the more positive messages that can be spread musically, the greater our chances are to become loving humans.)

The whole album is true magic. Love love love Danielle Ponder's work!
But I didn't know her backstory, I just found out about it thanks to RP's Wikipedia feature and... wow.
