I was last in line
For the one true vine
Endless winding thread
I was dead at first
I had done my worst
And you came to me
Life had ceased
I was lost and tired
You set me free
From this mighty, mighty fire
Just in time to be
My one true vine
You still come to me
And you comfort me
The only one that I believe
I trust you
I hope that someday you will
Trust me too
I wanna be what you are to me
Life had ceased
I was lost and tired
You set me free from
This mighty, mighty fire
Just in time to be
My one true vine
I was last in line
For the one true vine
Endless winding thread
I was dead at first
I had done my worst
And you came to me
Life had ceased
I was lost and tired
You set me free

That voice has been some places and seen some things.
Mavis just keeps it (and us) real.
Her voice carries the weight of a long, well-lived life. Perhaps a little worn and world-weary, but holy smoking chrome, she’s still got the phrasing and feeling chops.

I guess, there is origin from fabulous expression "True is in vine".
I'm thinking that the one true vine is the One True Vine possibly ?

very nice tune
kind of a gospel love lament

The beautiful ache in her voice stopped me dead in my tracks.
I'm not sure this song would work quite the same if sung by anyone else.

I love this sound - the thud of the kick drum, the full guitars with that chord change ... it hits a sweet spot.
Interesting set following Jackson Browne, The Pretender with this .... it’s going to be a melancholy day.

New album by Mavis is called "If All I Was Was Black." Produced by Jeff Tweedy. You will like track 4 ("Ain't No Doubt About It") quite well.

Her beautiful heartfelt song of love and Thank you to a Spirit that has moved on
Thank you Mavis
Thank you Mavis
OK, I'm getting tired of hearing "One True Vine" coming immediately after "Red Eyed And Blue". I've been hearing this since 2014. With all due respect, the sets need freshening, Bill.
Did anyone just finish hearing Wilco's "Red Eyed And Blue"?

I love you Mavis!
Wish my Auntie Mave sang like this.
Saw the movie... Wow & wow!! Wanted it to keep going.
Saw Mavis with Joan Osborne in Clearwater, Fla., about a month ago. Both were outstanding.

I was driving along with the top down and she grabbed me right out of the radio!!!! I was mesmerized by what I heard. I you think One True Vine is boring or without passion, you are missing what jazz/blues are all about boys & girls....
She had her first hit in 1956 and she's still out touring, giving it up for the audience (I saw her a few weeks ago). Amazing.

Fabulous artist! Beatiful voice seems to be singing a prayer, we are all secretly allowed to hear her conversation, I picture her Dad... thank you Mavis

Class Act!!
Dull, just goes nowhere for me.
Saw a double bill with Mavis and Neko Case in Chicago. Great show...though she takes a bit more time gettin' around.
nice
Cool, new Mavis! Great to see that this new album was once again produced by Jeff Tweedy, and it looks like he wrote this song as well!
Makes me homesick for Chicago...
