The violin tone reminds me of the difference between Dave Swarbrick and Rick Sanders. I like the former, and not the latter. However, I do like Curved Air. There is something in this piece/arrangement that doesn't seem to meld contentedly.

This is, like it or not, the greatest prog album ever. Yes is the greatest prog band (close tie with Crimson and ELP and PFM). And for those of us who were in our teens when it was released, this is about as close to a religious and transcendent experience as folks could put on vinyl.

But it's not a violin, is it?  The low range made me think Viola and Cello, yet the peaks were way up there...  I'm thinking an ensemble of all three...  Of course, I haven't researched it and just spouting off in response to other posts...  Sorry, got company, gotta go, but I LOVE this piece!
