John can stuff it. He had some crap songs too. Not every song has to be a profound statement on the human condition, a dirge, lament etc. There's room for sentimental music that calls back to an earlier period
So much hype over this band. Black Sabbath was superior in every way
Recently I've been listening to the RP Mellow Mix in addition to the Main Mix.  Have heard several songs, including this one, that I have never heard in the Main Mix.

It's like discovering a new RP!  Or nirvana, i.e. the state of being, not the group.

Long live the multiple streams of RP!

PS I love this song.
I like the music of the Beatles, just don't care too much for this particular one

i love paul songs  they are just fun  i think paul and john balanced each other out perfectly  john kept paul from getting too silly and paul brought a certain lightness and musicality to johns work  given the dynamic of two strong artistic personalities the break was inevitable
Happy International Women's Day!
as another RP listener so succinctly put it: "there are paul songs and there are john songs"

And somewhere in there, we learn to appreciate George. I know I have.

the "magical mystery" Beatles,
first scetches I've done in 1996, this final version is from 1999

pretty awesome

Very creative response! So...in other words...one must have a CD of music of their own to compare when offering an opinion that doesn't attack anyone? Hmmm...interesting. Amoreena must have tons of CD's for all of us to compare to...for the comments she has left.

it never gets old with the beatles!!

Granny crap - snark snark
I like Paul and his cutesy stuff.  I also like his other stuff.
I can't imagine to be creatively intense your whole life
through, and never want to fluff things up a little.
I like this song.  I used to sing it to my mother and
she laughed, which is a good thing.  A nine baby, a nine.

Obviously, the Beatles were a mighty band with many, many great songs.  They lose me on the cutesy Paul stuff like this.  Too fluffy, too catchy.  I like their more substantial songs (the more John or George centered stuff).  I know I'm in the minority.

In the minority maybe, but not alone. Certainly not alone.

My baby was born 3 days ago. Listening to this song on RP, I just realized that if I sing

Let's all get up and dance to a song that was a hit before your mother was born...

It becomes recursive ! :)

Happy Birthday Paul!!
Oh, the memories!

Oh, I agree, that is why I only gave them a 10, normally I will give them a 10.{#Lol}
Yadda Yadda Yadda, Blah, Blah, Beatles, Yadda, Blah............... 10!{#Notworthy}

Decent little tune, but I don't see how some people give it a 9 or 10 (or 1 or 2). Kind of catchy and non-threatening, like something they would use in an iPhone commerical.
John Lennon referred to this type of writing by Paul as his "granny shit". A real miracle of cooperation that those two were able to collaborate at all, and to such wonderful result.

There's something hopeful about my 13 yr old going into Borders with me, and immediately picking up the Magical Mystery Tour album and proclaiming "This is my favorite album."

and then I give him a little look and he says

"yes, I know it's not an album, but a collection of their singles! But STILL! Look at all these songs!!!..."

My work here, it might be done.

You did well in passing the torch!
I'm getting the impression that your mother is quite old!
Love the video bit from the show.

Interesting that Bill just got around to adding most of the tracks from this record in 2009.
Your mother should go...

Judging by your comment, I'd guess you were born a substantial amount of time after this song was released, especially if you "don't see how some people give it a 9 or 10 (or 1 or 2)".  The anachronistic use of a 21st-century product as a point of reference for a song that was released in 1967 is also somewhat telling.  The song, however, is a "catchy and non-threatening" tune, like the majority of Paul McCartney's work could be said to be.  I guess in response to your wondering why there are such high ratings: I think it's because a lot of the listeners here have heard and enjoyed this song since they were young and the song was "new".  Anyhow, I am not trying to engage in any sort of "age-discrimination" attacks, I was just making a less-than-astute observation.

holy cats.  i need to pull this album out more often.
Was this song ever released in true stereo?
My mother DID know! That's why I grew up listening to the Beatles! Good on ya mom!! {#Good-vibes}
I'm shocked this is the 1st time this song has been played on RP.  A personal favorite of mine from MMT.
First time? What a great song, a worthy addition to the ever expanding RP playlist. Thanks.
First!
