Now it all begins
Or continues to
Spiral down
Spiral down
I've laid it out on paper
Instructions of what to do
As my mind begins to waver
Losing contact with you
Now it all begins
Or continues to
Spiral down
Spiral down
Look upon the self
Look upon the other
We need a better understanding
Or we'll spiral down
Spiral down
Continue to spiral down
I'm no where near my peace
As you spiral down
Or continues to
Spiral down
Spiral down
I've laid it out on paper
Instructions of what to do
As my mind begins to waver
Losing contact with you
Now it all begins
Or continues to
Spiral down
Spiral down
Look upon the self
Look upon the other
We need a better understanding
Or we'll spiral down
Spiral down
Continue to spiral down
I'm no where near my peace
As you spiral down

The advantage this tune has going for it right off the bat is that it follows Bob Dylan...right there it's a breather. Thank goodness for ....who is this? ...oh yeah Cowboy Junkies....yep sounds good.

Funny, but for some reason today it sounded to me like she is singing "Spider Man"..... I guess because that broadway show is all over the news now that it's finally opening. And I just heard a new Bono song from it on the radio yesterday.
It's a funny thing, but I always think I like the Cowboy Junkies more than I actually do.
When I haven't listened to any of their stuff for a while I remember their music as warm and gentle, like a soft sunset. But the moment I'm reintroduced to them (like now) I realise that they're really a symphony in beige, as it were.
Ho hum.

Meh.
Oh let me jump off a bridge as I spiral down... way too depressing for me this morning.
Playing in Copenhagen next week, it´s going to be a great show. I´m sure of it.
Yep,,keep the downers coming,I'm feeling way too friskie !
Though I do try to buy Canadian whenever possible, I have never been a fan of Cowboy Junkies. That wispy breathy voice gets on my nerves.

Spiral Down is the name of every song the Boring Flunkies ever recorded.

I resemble that remark, you guys! BTW - I found your repartee hilarious. Just couldn't follow up with anything equally brilliant. You know, "Better to keep your fingers shut and be thought a fool than to type something stupid and confirm it."

Do I reckon this song? I'm a frayed knot :o)

Let's see, ThePoose wants to bite the singer "on her cute little tush" and make her scream, then tie her to a chair and force her to listen to James Brown, a guy with a long list of charges for domestic and sexual assault. I'm taking bets that ThePoose's favorite band is Bondage Fairies.
I wanna tie Margo to a chair, face a coupla Klipschorn Heresy IIIs at her, and play James Brown for a few days.

Zenlike and magnificent. Bill and Rebecca, you've given me so many great artists...Saw them at the Cascade in Redding and came away with a new appreciation for concentrated musicianship. Namaste...

I had to take a second look at the title ... because what my brain had put together was a Lurleen ditty for Col. Homer J. named "Spiraled Ham", not "spiral down".

So far, I've never heard anything they've done that I didn't fall in love with.
This is just so beautiful.

Love them Junkies!
Actually I wish we could "spiral up" on this Friday afternoon with 13 minutes left to go before closing time.

Hear! Hear! 'It Came From Canada' but few outside of here seem to know of them - thanks for giving one of our best bands some exposure! (If you don't believe me, go listen to 'Sweet Jane' on The Trinity Session album.)
Trinity Session - GREAT CD
This is quite nice!! Love the strings (acoustic and not electronic).
Nice segue Dylan to Cowboy Junkies.
I agree about Margo

Yo, Canada!
I have the Trinity Session CD in my "top shelf" collection along with Tragically Hip, Loreena McKennitt, and - of course - Sarah McLachlan.
The latter two I saw live and in person at the Montreal Expo Centre in 1993. Those two - and the Canadian audience - were absolutely fabulous ... sipping delicious Molson Golden while listening to the music.
aahhh cowboy junkies... always relaxing, thoughtful, and good.

Ahh, Margo--my virtual sweetie!
Mmm, like the strings!

For sure I understand why you think that.
For me, however, as I first heard this I thought "Wow, new Junkies, and it sounds so fresh."
I guess it's about becoming more sensitive to differences with familiarity. You know, sometimes subtle isn't so bad.
I'll second you on this. I actually came to the site to see who this was, while most CJ songs are recognizable in the first 15 seconds (at least to me). Now that I know, I can definitely hear the CJ signs.
Look forward to hearing more from this.
This does sound quite a bit different for Cowboy Junkies.
Of course that is only true if you haven't already made up your mind on them.
I saw them Sunday Evening (Oct 21, 2007) in Londonderry, NH and they played this. Sounded a bit different there without the strings. Nice hearing a different take on it. Margo says it's her favorite song on this CD.

Extremely well produced, great sound.
Nice song too, a very fine band.

You are quite correct.
Is it me or most of their songs sound very VERY similar...?
The violins and cellos, which I think make this piece, sound like a Van Dyke Parks arrangement but it's not. It's by one Henry Kucharzyk.
First?
This is good. Margo's voice sounds stronger than usual, somehow.
I keep waiting for this to go somewhere...
I just got this album and listened to it last night for the first time. Another excellent production from one of my favorite groups!
