There's a feast, well prepared, at the table,
And a beast, licking holes, in your door,
Make a break just as soon as your able,
To run, get out of this hole, before it takes your soul
I don't know how to hide,
Keep my shadow alive,
It's easy to defend,
The logic of a friend
And i don't know how to tell, is it heaven or hell
That i'll be going to
Just as long as i'm there with you.
Theres a clock
Ticking slow, on the table
As the light, finds the cracks in your door
Make a break just as soon as your able
To run, hold on to your soul, before it take you whole
I don't know how to hide,
Keep my shadow alive,
It's easy to defend,
The logic of a friend
And i don't know how to tell, if it's heaven or hell
That i'll be going to
Just as long as i'm there with you.

Pretty good at absolute worst.
God, I thought it had finished and then it started again... Hhhhhh.
And then RP rescues me again with the godlike "The Butterfly Collector". Bravo.

Don't know if he ever takes it off, but here are two reasons he may leave it on most of the time:
1) It is cold wherever he is from. Snow is forecast here for tomorrow morning, as an example, and lots of folks have been wearing knit caps for about a week. (There are green plants on the album cover, though.)
2) He is bald and chooses to hide it.
A nice number, and well worth a 7. What's always intrigued me is: does BDB ever take off his woolly hat? He must sweat buckets at gigs.

I worked on a concert for Badly Drawn Boy in NYC—I have to say he was the most rude, nasty, and belligerent performer I have ever worked with...He basically told the entire audience that they were stupid for listening to his music. Not a fan.
I was busy... Thinking of something else and this crept into my ears and hijacked my attention.... Thanks RP... This is why I tell, recommend RP to everyone I know... I am not drinking my own bathwater...and no songs that "People who liked what you liked also like THIS"... just a loose collection of people and music that flows... some I like, some not, some inbetween...and some I Really like and buy the whole CD...
I thought it was over but it just keeps going...
He has so many other better songs.....

I've never understood why that wool-cap "look" is still popular - even in hot weather. It was bad enough with The Spin Doctors and their ilk. This guy, I believe, has a little more talent than that band. Well, to each his own - pretty good song.

Almost Eels-ish? My fav BDB song Bill plays. 8
Gosh this is good. I do love well played piano.
If you were always as high as John was, you too would need a hat just to keep your head on.

Musicians, help me out here. Is this 3/4 time? Da da dum. Da da dum. It's so repetitive ... it's driving me maaaaadddd ....
Much of it sounds like a bar of 4/4 followed by a bar of 2/4. It's an interesting and subtle combination of rhythms. Gives it an unusual feel without calling too much attention to itself.
I should remember to buy one of his albums at some point.
I can see he's clever and it should be great...but I also find it really dull.

Sounds like straight up 4 or 2 to me.

Michael Penn and Jellyfish together at last under the name Badly Drawn Boy. Excellent!

there's something to the melody that keeps reminding me of The Road to Moscow (am I thinking of the right song? Al Stewart I think...?)...
Yeah, I'm hearin' it too.
Practically transparent transfer from Gabriel Rios.
Sounds like the kids fled and he turned to a darker mood.
On tour now...
Like Benicio Del Toro in "Snatch"?

Very interesting, atmospheric tune. Great for zoning out late in the evening.
Wow is right... I really liked it. So moody and obsessive or something. With a pretty piano in the background.
Sorta Spoon-ish (Spooney?) c. Gimme Fiction.
wow, hadn't heard this one - and now I'm gonna go get it.
this is insanely good.
i thought it was fried chicken
It was - dang... caviar
and still on....
stampclumpclomp....just dirges along, donit? with a bit of Beatles-like background vocals thrown in
Damn, Badly Wrote Music, Sorry !

Did he just say "if I'm going to Hell, I'd like to take you with me"?
he, of the tea cozy hat
Thanks for the heads-up. Based on that it's PSD time.
