Love has come courting and I'm back there again
I pour myself a brand new start
Glad to be falling for the beauty within
All the king's horses - all the king's men
I'm on the outside looking in
Over and over and over again
There's no telling where I've been
How I returned here - how much I have seen
All the king's horses - all the king's men
I'll weave a circle round the sun
Throw down my arms and give my all
I'll be your soldier of love
I'll weave a circle round the sun
Throw down my arms and give my all
I'll be your soldier of love
I am your soldier of love
Glad to be falling for the beauty within
The beauty within, the beauty within
It's so funny. Led Zeppelin was ROCK, and a huge influence on metal (etc.). Not to mention awesome. But at heart, Plant was a folkie. He would have been happy fronting Fairport Convention. Srsly.
This song could have easily been on LZ III or PG. Guitar would have been better and more complex and there would have been some drumming at some point, but the singing would have been identical.
Weird, sounds nothing like Plant. Maybe he used a stunt vocalist? Nice song, though.
?!?
Sounds just like Plant. I like this a lot more than the title track to this album which RP played quite a bit for a while...

First I heard it (likely here whenever it started playing), it sounded like him to my ear.
i love that image ....
kind of sweet tune, this guy's got potential (maybe a with new guitar player and a stronger drummer great things could happen : )
Listening at work, not sure what the theme was this Cinco de Mayo, a folk vibe, Leo Kottke, Dolly the Goddess and this absolute gem I've never heard (Thanks RP) with this voice (possible embedded in my heart/memory/genes) just so so so like none other. Bravo Bill and Rebecca, for keepin it lit.
Listening for the first time myself. What a lovely tune. Robert Plant gets a lot of grief for his relatively short career with Led Zeppelin. But this was less than 25% of his career. It's almost as if he said, "Rock Star, I've done that. I want to be an artist now."
That's okay by me!
I've seen Robert appear at Fairport's Cropredy Convention twice - first time in 1992 as a surprise guest, and again in 2008. He performed 'Battle of Evermore' with them, Kristina Donahue taking on Sandy's vocals. Earlier in the day, he was seen mixing with the crowds round the beer 'tent', just being a normal guy and not the rock god he really is. Duuuuuude!
Well said. First time for me to hear this. Very nice piece.
SO FUNNY!!!!
