Time will play no games for free.
Like a speeding train rusting in the sea.
Maybe you are lost, maybe set free.
You and I ain't such good friends,
when peace on earth can't be found.
When angels can't keep us from shaking the ground.
Hey, you have to laugh out loud,
at those who are always so strong and right.
Now you don't know forgiveness without a fight.

Paul Butterfield, Little Walter and..........Magic Dick! ('Blow your face out Dickie!').
Of course Stevie Wonder and good old Jean "Toots" Tielemans should be mentioned too, although they're not playing bluesharp but chromatic harmonica, which is quite different! Or as Toots once said: 'everybody can play bluesharp'.
Toots' position as number one chromatic harmonica player was long unthreatened, untill Little Stevie Wonder came on the scene. When he first heard Stevie play, he started to get worried!
Toots died yesterday, 22 August, age 94.

Well, this is the poster child for acquired taste, methinks.
(Say, is that BHT on the cover? Nice.)

Hear what you're saying, friend. This gets a PSD here.
ps I remember the harmonica guy on the Eurythmics' "Revenge" tour. Astonishing.
Anyone else catching a bit of "Ruby Tuesday" in there?

I can understand that if you haven't heard much harmonicas.
I think it can be a cop out instrument, it's easy to knock off a melody.
Hell I taught myself to play the Rolling Stones "Sweet Virginia" once.
But all that aside, check out Little Walter, he plays the F out of it, like an orchestra.
BTW, this song sucks.
The harmonica is quite possibly the most annoying instrument ever conceived.

Maybe the better question is, why are you listening to RP when you don't like interesting music?
I'm sorry, that song has no redeeming qualities. I don't know how it ever got on this station.

Trolling much? I'll bite....
I'm a singer/ harmonica player.....and in the right hands it is an awesome instrument (as he slowly lowers himself off the soapbox)

OMG - TFF!

Are you sure about that? How much Dylan have you been inflicted with? I have suffered through quite a bit in my lifetime, and I can tell you that he DOES sing off key in many songs. Dylan may have been a poet, but he sure isn't much of a singer.

There's also Willie Nelson's harmonica player, Mickey Raphael....a very distinctive harmonica sound! And don't forget John Popper, who is to harmonica what Kenny G is to sax....great technique, but not so much soul....

At first I thought this was Bob Dylan. Their music sounds a lot better than their name. :)
good tune. as a BHTM fan for 15 odd years, I have to say it's been great to see Todd retain his character and develop as a story teller and musician. Todd's great.

I am surprised to see the rating on this one is lower than I would expect.
It's pretty overplayed here on rp. Perhaps people have just grown tired of it?

ummm... how about adding bagpipes & the pan flute to the list.
I am surprised to see the rating on this one is lower than I would expect.

Just what is wrong with a Dylan tribute that takes it as far as including off - tune singing and suck - blow harmonica playing anyway...?

That depends on who's playing it. Give a listen to some Sonny & Brownie, Jr. Wells, Slim Harpo, Charlie Musselwhite, John Hammond, Jr. or even the Harmonicats!
This style reminds me of Dylan, which is pretty basic harp. There's a lot more to it than just some elemetary play. As the Joker (Nicholson) said in Batman, "Gentlemen, Let's Exand our Minds!"

Please don't stop playing this wonderfaul band.
Thank you,

I *THINK* the quote was let's broaden out minds...but who cares? ;)

I actually thought this was Graham Parker singing when I first heard it... Not too knowledgeable about BHT, but this is raw and gripping. Thumbs up from me.

Man the vocals on this are absolutely horrible. I haven't liked BHT in the past but I have been willing to keep an open mind with regard to their music. This just makes me realize that I was right in the first place.

Thanks, gyspy. We in Britain put great value on courtesy. In that spirit, would you be so kind as to e-mail me when this abusive whining is over? I'd like to unclick the mute button for the next song. Cheers!

Actually, Jerry Murad & His Harmonicats gave Toots some competition with chromatic harmonicas for quite a while in the 1950s and '60s; at least in the U.S. Still, Toots was the master (R.I.P.).
