Just bought this CD a couple weeks ago. Absolutely wonderful and infectious and brilliant.
Need to get this album...must remember....
Anybody remember her father Ewan MacColl? He wrote the beautiful 'Dirty old town' .
Cliche latin song. Just play some Hector Lavoe o Ruben Blades, real salsa from music genious.
This album is one of my all-time favorites

Anyone else wanna hear Bing Crosby sing "Milika Lookki Laka"?
Yo, Jeff, STFU!!! No. I really liked this lady and was sorry to see her go. Likeable tune.
gaaah, i just can't stand this song. Just when i had forgotten it ever existed (a local FM radio played until i almost went nuts a few summers ago) you just had to play it, didn't you ;)
Interesting, caught me from the get go.

I don't follow... where does the guilt come from? :-) Beanie wrote:

as fun as this is, she's much better on the Pogues' Fairytale of New York. \:D/
This is really neat, and offers a fun contrast with the harmonies on the words, "far away." I give this a 7.
There are better tracks on the CD (some also on the RP playlist) but this is still worth a listen.
What a loss. This lady could have done so much... *sigh* Another great track off her album. R.I.P.
I can't believe I was at lunch when you played this! Whaaaaaah! :( ">
Hey you! YES YOU! Pass that bottle of tequila over here

I like this song. The start reminded me of Ricky Ricardo's band though..I don't know if that's a good thing. :-k
BABA-LOOOOOUUUUUUUU!!!!
dig it.

Whenever I hear a "mamba" beat come in anymore, I still can't help but think of Randy Quaid in "Parents", right before the cannibalism scene.
This set needs "Aloha Honolulu" by Poi Dog Pondering
fun!
Very nice... fun... I've always liked her music.

Tropical Brainstorm is a beautiful album, full of great songs with sharp, witty lyrics. Sadly it was her last before she died in a tragic speedboat accident a couple of years ago. Mambo de la Luna isn't the best track, IMO. My favourite is 'England 2 Colombia 0', though the title reference may not mean too much to US listeners ;-)
This reminds me too much of Ricky Martin. No Thanks.
you have got to be kidding me. is this from Barney's Greatest Hits?
My favorite cut off this CD. Glad to hear a deeper cut.
