My spirit has been purified
Take a thorn from my pride
And hand in hand we'll take a walk outside
Thank you for the sun the one that shines on everyone
Who feels love
Now there's a million years between my fantasies and fears
I feel love
Leaving all that I see
Now all my emotions fill the air I breath
Now you understand that this is not the promised land
They spoke of
There's nothing more to be
If you can be the remedy who heals love
I thank you for the sun the one that shines on everyone
Who feels love
Now there's a million years between my fantasies and fears
I feel love
I thank you for the sun the one that shines on everyone
Who feels love
Now there's a million years between my fantasies and fears
I feel love
(If anyone wats to listen to the Beatles of a certain era their recordings remain available)
Someone, please pass the body armour.
Shouldn’t they be standing on the shoulders – plural – of giants?
I suppose there could be a pair of giant Siamese twins joined at the shoulder. Seems a bit cruel to stand on them, though.
The title is based on a typo when Noel wrote down the quote from Isaac Newton late one evening, and when he saw the note the next day, he liked it and decided to keep it as was (from memory, so details TBC).
I mean, it sounds like he's on the phone.
(I don't.)
Everyone is influenced and gets their inspiration and ideas, from somewhere. Haydn, Handle, Vivaldi, From Bach. Bach From Vivaldi, Mozart from Bach, Bethoven from Mozart, Mendelssohn from Bethoven, the list goes on.
Certainly, there were plenty of mature adults that said the same thing about the Beatles. The fans of the Beatles weren't old enough to know who their influencers were.
Very well stated!!
worst Beatles tribute band EVER!

you can only stand on 1 shoulder at a time, i guess.
english is a hard language
this song reminds me of good times from decades ago
How does this remind you of the 70's? Because apart from post punk there was fuck all for 20 years after that, and for another 20 years after that, and it gets worse, apart from some incredible local bands making great music and some lesser known acts that Bill manages to find. The mainstream is dead with it's dearth of autotune dicks sounding like jimmy saville.
I know that some American RP listeners cannot hear U2 without thinking of Bono and what his public persona is - and that puts them off from appreciating the music. Same for me with Liam Gallagher - front man and main singer of Oasis. He follows in a long line of frontmen with severe attitude overkill. Even his brother Noel (guitarist and harmonies) cannot stand him anymore and that is one of the main reasons why the band split up. The only thing they have in common now is a historical connection with Oasis and they both support Manchester City soccer club.
Indeed, but say what you like about the two siblings, they can pen a catchy tune and lay a good vocal melody over it. Over the years I've mellowed to Noel because he's genuinely funny "my brother's angry, he's like a man with a fork in a world of soup" but Liam is clearly a dunderhead.
I like this song but that is just plain funny.
you mean a mute button, don't you?
I don't think anyone under 50yrs is going to get that...
Repeat.
HAHAHA!
You kids. The 90's was like yesterday.
They were a bit better than the current time with the soulless elevator music we hear everywhere now tho
minus ability to sing.
If the giant is giant enough, I'm sure one could easily fit standing on just one shoulder. I'm at a 3 on this one....not quite auto-skip for me...pretty close though....Long Live RP!!
But then it would be a shoulder, not the shoulder! The siamese twin hypothesis is the most promising one so far since it reduces the number of possible shoulders from four to two, still it doesn't take us all the way down to one.
What happened to one or the other of their lateral shoulders?
Moreover, there would need to be multiple siamese twin giants joined at the shoulder, otherwise it would be the giants, but no more than two sets of twins, else how would Oasis be straddling them?
Sir Paul MacCartney admits that Don't Look Back in Anger is one of the best song ever ...i do agree with him !
Real talk... Oasis on a Beatles trip... Namaste from the Internet
I agree. To me they are in the same league as RHCP.
wrong, not even close
Much frustration unto thee of short attention span.

His Mom must be playing this in the background. Poor fella.

OK.....would you settle for a "talentless professional"?
Okay, that's a different thing.
they're no doubt horrified..
Then you probably never heard the song "Rain" of The Beatles..?
"my soul has been psychedelicized"
I agree. To me they are in the same league as RHCP.
Nasally!
this is just a draggy bland little song
Really? Have you heard even HALF of the Beatles albums?
Revolver?
Magical Mystery Tour?
Rubber Soul?
Sgt Peppers?
Go have a listen...then get back to us! :-)
"Amateurs" generally don't have 8-figure incomes, the rest of your comment seems pretty accurate though.
OK.....would you settle for a "talentless professional"?
Yes.
All that, AND, note what a blatant plea for acceptance by an American audience this album art is!
And I must mention (as I have elsewhere), I believe the name of the album is a subconscious tip-o-the hat (by the Gallaghers) to the Beatles, the musical giants on whose shoulders they stood, by doing their damnedest to sound like the greatest band ever to come out of Britain.
Oh, and by the way, Wikipedia says the photo was shot from the roof of 500 5th Ave...(the building occupied by, amongst others, Zara and Muji) which makes sense, otherwise you'd SEE 500 5th Ave in the foreground, not the HSBC Bank Tower, which is the case.
HA! You wins the interwebs, today.
I'll take Tears for Fears "Sowing The Seeds of Love" when I want to hear a Lennon/Beatles homage.
Even a tone-deaf chicken can step in a turd.
The gallagher brothers need to be shot, drowned and sodomized with fully charged tazers.
So nice of you to be so sensitive. In what order would these events take place?

I have to turn this song up every time I hear it.
I don't like giving 1's so I got it at 2

Look around
Look around
Look around
Thank you once again, Bill.
I totally hear that, for their songs like Elevator Up or Go, Hippie. Nice catch.
Too bad this isn't one of them.
Oasis owned the UK pop scene for a time in the mid-late 90s, really courting the football hooligan/lad crowd, then quickly blew it with shoddy material, presented with misplaced arrogance.
Delusions of adequacy. Although 'Live Forever ' is one of my all time favs.
I never followed Oasis all that closely but it seems like they relied on certain gimmicks a lot, some of which were borrowed from the Beatles. They had an interesting sound but that doesn't take you too far if the lyrics are forgettable and you don't change things up too much.
As for the Gallagher brothers and their personal dramas—seems kinda laughable now, doesn't it? Sort of like the furor over Justin Bieber's antics. File under: Where Are They Now?
Heh. Too true.
Oh no; he got it right in one take.
-- You see, if the desired effect is to sound like shit, then it's shit.
Maybe it was intentional to create the desired effect...which worked. Sorry you missed that, wise one.
you know, if I was a betting man .....I'd say that cover shot was taken looking south from the top of Rockefeller Center.
Everybody in my church loves this song...
I wonder the same thing about Tom Waits, and that guy is considered a genius around here. To each his own, I guess.
I *crank* this song whenever it comes on and groove away!
