He was a hard-headed man,
He was brutally handsome,
And she was terminally pretty
She held him up,
And he held her for ransom
In the heart of the cold, cold city

He had nasty reputation as a cruel dude
They said he was ruthless, said he was crude
They had one thing in common, they were good in bed
She'd say, "Faster, faster. The lights are turnin' red."

Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane

Are you with me so far?

Eager for action,
Hot for the game
The coming attraction,
The drop of a name

They knew all the right people,
They took all the right pills
They threw outrageous parties,
They paid heavenly bills

There were lines on the mirror,
Lines on her face
She pretended not to notice,
She was caught up in the race

Out every evening,
Until it was light
He was too tired to make it,
She was too tired to fight about it

Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane
Life in the fast lane,
Everything all the time
Life in the fast lane

Blowin' and burnin',
Blinded by thirst
They didn't see the stop sign,
Took a turn for the worst

She said, "Listen, baby. You can hear the engine ring.
We've been up and down this highway; haven't seen a goddamn thing."

He said, "Call the doctor. I think I'm gonna crash."
"The doctor say he's comin', but you gotta pay him cash."

They went rushin' down that freeway,
Messed around and got lost
They didn't care they were just dyin' to get off and it was...

Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane
Life in the fast lane,
Everything all the time
Life in the fast lane,

Life in the fast lane
Life in the fast lane

Ain't no other way to really get into it, Nice headphones from Focal, Hifiman, Audeze and the like, dedicated external HP amp that can really swing the volts, a DAC to match, and a decent source like a high-quality motherboard in a carefully assembled desktop PC. You don't have a choice but to pay attention so you are forcefully fed heavenly sonic nirvanas that you up 'til then considered "okay songs, I guess". Doesn't work for every song though, sometimes the rig reveals sh1tty sound bites you had never noticed before. But hey, it's a small price to pay when one is seeking the very soul of music.

YES! and it doesn't have to be too expensive.
Lovin' my RP while using this setup:
Windows Laptop via Browser of your choice
USB out to Schitt Modi
WBC (6 inch RCAs) to
Schitt Vali2
Phillips Fidelio headphones
Amazing how William and team achieve a really good mix that is not fatiguing and often puts a smile on my face!
Not too "hot" but sounds just right!
I sit down to "listen for a bit" and hours have passed = the quality is so engaging that time escapes me.

It's a bit like Foreigner you wouldn't desperately want their albums but a greatest hits was decent.

The Eagles got overplayed--Jeffrey Lebowski could tell you about that--but the world is a better place after leaving Foreigner in the past.

No comments? ..eh? It was overplayed on the radio & college dorms when it came out. But I like it now! It sounds better in FLAC w/ great headphones, amp & DAC!!!

Just thank the good Lord that Joe Walsh joined them or they could have been a whole lot worse 🤣

Agree - very good song, great production IMO.

I never fully understood the hate The Eagles get. They were the masters of pop/rock in the 70s. They may not have been a music nerd's dream, but they provided many entertaining songs for a lot of people.

cru-el dude.

always loved that.
Does anyone need to hear this elevator music ever again? Hard to stomach after 50 years of overplay on crap rock stations.
Glenn Frey.. Of blessed memory.
I'm old enough to remember when radio muted out the curse word in "haven't seen a goddamn thing".  Crazy to think radio went through such pains to appease all the religious pearl clutchers out there.
nice to hear these hated Eagles' tunes on the main mix. It's a 9 for me for sure; LLRP!!

Bill solved it. His comment: Bizzare

Indeed.
At one point their Greatest Hits was the biggest selling album of all time.
According to Wiki, it is now at #2 with Hotel California at #3.
#1? MJ's Thriller.  #4: Somewhat surprisingly AC/DC Back in Black.
